Always interesting how fujitora could tell luffy was a young man while being blind he even knew luffy was a fraud with the beard
Oh man, didn't even notice it was a double upload, possible another one today?
I'm so excited that you're finally watching my favourite arc! There's so much I'm looking forward to seeing you react to let's gooooo
The OST timing coupled with the suspense when the "blind old man" starts sheathing his sword goes so hard. That is such an awesome moment, the anime killed it with that scene.
I've got some fun facts to share. I'm sure this is no secret to some, but I am certain this first region we are shown in Dressrosa which is named "Balsa" is based on the city of Barcelona in Spain. I traveled to Barcelona recently (Highly recommend, it has the best architecture I have seen across Europe), and now that I'm re-watching this arc it was immediately obvious. Barcelona is known for being home to the famous architectural works of Antoni Gaudi, one of the most famous European architects in history from the 1800's. If you look at the 10:38 mark of episode 630 there is a still shot of a a bunch of buildings that look identical to Gaudi's very unique architectural style. Particularly the waviness and vivid colors. If you want to see a direct comparison, look up "Park Guell" which is one of Gaudi's creations that looks to be the direct inspiration for what Oda drew in Dressrosa, the buildings look extremely similar. I have to say it makes me happy that Oda took so much inspiration from Gaudi who is an architect I really love. As for some other Spanish things in the episode, the dish they were eating in the restaurant is a well known Spanish rice dish called "Paella". The dancing of the women they showed was a type of Spanish dancing called "Flamenco". The Coliseum is the one thing I have noticed that I don't think has Spanish origin and does not seem related to Spain. It seems inspired by the famous Roman Coliseum that I am sure you have heard of. Anyway, I just wanted to share that stuff since I have had the privilege of traveling to Spain and seeing all of this myself. It made me really happy that Oda recreated my favorite city I have ever visited in the form of Dressrosa. Oda is not only a genius writer, he is also very appreciative of other cultures in his writing which I love. Edit: Apparently Dressrosa is actually based on 3 different Spanish cities, not just Barcelona. Those would be Balsa (from Barcelona), Sevio (from Sevilla) and Carta (from Cartagena). More info below on Dressrosa references to Spain that I found after reading the OP wiki.
The wiki has great Spanish cultural info I did not have knowledge of, so I will just post the fun facts from the wiki here too if anyone is interested in reading. I took out one singular piece of info that references something minor from a later episode, so this is 100% spoiler free. - Dressrosa draws inspiration from the real-life country of Spain, particularly the autonomous communities of Andalusia and Catalonia, as evidenced by the architecture, clothes, flamenco dancers, food like paella (typical from the Valencian Community), gazpacho (typical from Andalusia), and Spanish terminology. - The architecture present in Dressrosa is similar to the style of Park Güell, a garden complex in Barcelona designed by Antoni Gaudí. - The passionate murders that are so common in Dressrosa is also commonly present in Spanish literature, particularly during the Romantic era in the early 19th century. - The names of three particular towns and regions in Dressrosa appear to be based on actual Spanish cities; those would be Balsa (from Barcelona), Sevio (from Sevilla) and Carta (from Cartagena). - The Donquixote Family, who have ruled over Dressrosa at times, are named after the titular protagonist of Don Quixote, which is the most well-known Spanish novel. - Entertainment in Dressrosa has also been inspired by the culture of the Roman Empire, as it features a large Colosseum where gladiators would fight to the death for the amusements of the spectators. - The word "corrida" from Corrida Coliseum means the activity of bullfighting, typical from Spain. - The Funimation dub also contributes to the theme, giving most of the Dressrosa natives Spanish accents. - Dressrosa means "pink dress" or "rose dress" ("rosa" means "pink" and "rose" in many Latin languages).
Right? Assuming Luffy wins the fruit, what would he do with it? Just store it on the ship? I guess some of the crew doesn't have a devil fruit. If he lets anyone eat it, it would have to be someone close to him.
It's not something most people pick up on right away but Dressrosa is inspired by Spanish architecture and the music used as well obviously
Can't wait for your reaction to all the hype moments in Dressrose, it is a very long arc, so get comfy, we're gonna be here for awhile.
