And so the longest saga in One piece begins
this is it, our peak!
I think right around here is the point where One Piece shines for what makes it unique. The story no longer adds more and more new information but instead uses what it has to make the One Piece world and story play out in events that seem believable because we know the characters and the world. Although it's very overstated, One Piece's strength is very much in its worldbuilding, which truly begins to shine here.
Personally, I think the world building in One Piece has always been that way, not just starting this arc. Oda has always kept characters relevant far past their initial arc, even in East Blue you had Buggy and Alvida reappear at Logue town. He loves having characters reappear. And we will get plenty of new characters and places that are very important this arc and in the next ones, tons of new stuff will be introduced every arc. I guess we get MORE recurring characters going forward compared to before, but the number of new characters and places we see doesn't decrease much if at all despite that.
Events that will resonate for the next 500+ episodes, villains that get more heinous with each arc, we've reached the true start of post-timeskip.
