This reminds me of the anime Parasyte
Mob made the right decision joining the body improvement club. The telepathy club was just trying to use Mob and didn't give a damn about him, but the body improvement club treats him as a full member and they even fought to rescue him. In most anime or media the jocks end up being assholes, so I really like the denial of that trope in Mob Psycho.
