I may be mistaken but lust is voiced by the same actress who voiced Kushina in the English dub of naruto.

Mustang's line " it's a terrible day for rain " has a double meaning, to cover up his tears but also because Mustang is often called useless in the rain because he cant make sparks. Mustang was feeling useless and powerless.

I believe, Jack, that from this point forward the 2003 anime and this one diverge and that the pacing should slow down a little. Love your reactions. Can't wait to see more. RIP Lt. Colonel Maes Hughes.

When Hughes hung up the phone the first time, it was because of the woman in the room. If she'd heard him, Lust would've killed her too. I've seen this episode so many times, 6 times watching the anime, and countless reactions, and I still cry during the funeral scenes. Also; Riza in episode 1 said to mustang “you’re useless on rainy days” Episode 10: “it’s a terrible day for rain.”

Although this tragedy is so unfortunate, that's part of its purpose; it displays just how devilish and cruel our villains are. It's truly a war of information.

I just started on this show too and the fact they killed off someone so likeable so early in show has me scared on whats to come 🙂🙂🙂

Some fun trivia: This moment is so iconic for the series that when they released the teaser trailer for Brotherhood, they included the line "Daddy has a lot of work to do" in it.

The line "it's a terrible day for rain" has a double meaning. On top of Mustang trying to cover up the fact that he was crying, the fact that his flame alchemy (and him by extension) are useless on rainy days can also mean that "it's a terrible day for rain" means that Mustang feels useless without Hughes :(

There’s a common interpretation that Mustang’s “terrible day for rain” line is an articulation of his feeling of helplessness in losing his best friend, since it has been established that he becomes powerless on rainy days. I think it adds a nice added layer to his emotion in that scene and makes it even more powerful

As soon as you said "If anyone in this family dies" I felt so sorry for you knowing what was about to happen to poor Hughes 😂 He deserved better 💔💔
