cool think about ichibes power of all the black belonging to him is that, its one of the biggest reason why bleach hits differently in manga medium. since manga is black n white, all the black belonging him can mean he conceptually controls the ink of the manga itself, and thats also can explain his power over the names and how and why names impose such power on the reality of Bleach universe because world of manga exsists in black and white. his character best understood as not just some super powerful shinigami but more akin to some sort of eery cosmic being in the bleach world.

Uryu just used his Schrift

When Ichibe erased Yhwach's name during their fight he also erased it from the past. If you can remember all the way back in Episode 19 when Ichigo met 'Old Man Zangetsu' for the very first time, Ichigo asked him "Who are you?". Old Man Zangetsu replied with "Who? What are you talking about? It's me ______." Ichigo couldn't hear him say his true name, Yhwach, because it was painted black.

uryu trapping senjumaru in her own bankai is something that will be explained this cour but im ngl i feel like in general you are underestimating how strong uryu is especailly after drinking yhwachs blood (ive always seen his strength comparable to ichigo kinda like a naruto & sasuke type of feel)

You are totally right to feel both the out-of-place back and forth with Squad Zero and the Uryu upscale. This Senjumaru Bankai and most of the fight was anime exclusive because Squad Zero in the manga were the BIGGEST bums in anime. There WAS NO back and forth, they got clapped instantly and was the biggest letdown kubo delivered. Uryu being able to solo a Zero Bankai will make sense later in the story. I was also not a big fan of how the direction of the story is taken from this point. Lots of positive changes that cut unneeded manga content, but also leads to crazy pacing that has you just accepting stuff like Ichibei self-resing or their nexus getting taken in one frame.

The recap ending at 9:19 is a reference to the Kaiser Gesang. It describes how over 999 years Yhwach will return from his seal. He regained his pulse after 900, then his mind after another 90, and after 9 more years he regains his strength, culminating in 9:19 in the episode.

Oh I’m so ready for the rest of this cour. And honestly, I do kinda feel the same way about how Ichibe came back, but at the same time I really like how his character is basically just the embodiment of one of the most important themes of the show: names have power. It’s been seen since the beginning with learning your Zanpakutō’s name - or purposely misnaming them like Ayasegawa (eyelash pretty guy) or Renji not knowing his sword’s true name. Even the many times characters have made it a point to introduce themselves and say their name or talk shit by refusing to say their name. Names are power.

cour 3 has the best OP imo, im pretty sure its safe to watch

My personal take on how Ishida beats Senjumaru, is relevant to a lot of the fights in TYBW and especially in Cours 3 and 4, that after a certain point spiritual pressure becomes less and less relevant, not to say it becomes unimportant but when abilities become more complex the more important factor is counters and strategy. I'm like 99% sure Ishida does not have more spiritual pressure, than Senjumaru, but he does have an schrift (Which has not been explained yet) that acts as a almost perfect counter, which is why he won.

Fun fact Senjumaru's Bankai isn't in the manga and the fight against Squad Zero is mostly off-screen
