You should definitely watch the filler arc Zanpakuto-Rebellion arc after finishing (from 230 to 265), I found it entertaining to learn more about the Zanpakutos and their personalities.

I think Kensei is harsh with Shuhei because Shuhei is still very loyal in a way to Tosen, like to the idea of who he thought his captain was...... but Tosen is the one who attacked Kensei and made him a visored when Tosen was in his squad.

When Mask says that a Zanpakuto cannot have the powers of both water and fire, this is historically true. One of the loosely defined rules of Zanpakuto is that every single ability a Zanpakuto has are connected in some way thematically. To my knowledge there are no exceptions to this. Even in weird cases where a Shikai and Bankai are wildly different, they always either follow a theme or they relate to how the soul reaper has two different sides to their personality or soul. According to Kubo Shikai is surface level soul, and Bankai represents the "true personality" or in other words their true soul. A good example of a Shikai and Bankai reflecting a contradictory personality is Soi Fon. Her outward personality is reserved and stealthy, that's why she has a stealthy Shikai suited for assasinations. Soi Fon's true inner personality does not match that, however. Soi Fon is actually tempermental and wants to be seen by others (especially Yoruichi), but she keeps that side of her hidden. That hidden side of her is expressed in her Bankai which is loud, aggressive, and flashy, it's her true self.

I believe So-oh Zabimaru translates to "two kings" which makes sense since his zanpakuto spirit is a monkey/type of primate and a snake. The whole idea of a true bankai harkens back to soul society arc when Byakuya said that Bankai can take like 10 years to master. Renji and Ichigo technically never knew their true bankais since they spedrun their training.

Back in the Soul Society arc Zabimaru's form was shown to us, it was monkey with a snake for a tail. So far Renji's Bankai has been him swinging the snake around, he was only using half of the bankai. Now that he knows the true name he can control both the monkey and the snake.

So of the 2 James was actually the Sternritter not Mask De Masculine that's why Yhwach mentioned only James.

It's no longer the Seireitei technically, Yhwach has transposed their palace Silbern and the surrounding Wandenreich city in it's place. Also both Renji and Rukia just returned from Royal Palace training.
