To answer your question Mayuri is just a (humanoid) soul reaper like everyone else, remember the scene where he takes a bath in soul society arc and all the makeup is removed? He's just a dude with weird fashion tastes.
Also Akon (that little kid in flashback who made fun of Hiyori) is the current third seat of squad 12 (Mayuri's squad), he is the scientist dude who has the horns you always see making reports about enemy movements
Kensei has a 69 on his chest to represent his division. The 6 comes from the Kanji in his last name and he's the captain of squad 9. As you saw, hisagi gets that to honor him for saving his life and respects kensei alot. Also mayuri is very similar to orochimaru in that mayuri was a normal guy but has modified his body alot and is just now an odd dude.
I completely agree with the peeps, next 3 need to be together. You'll be thankful and so will we 😁
Jack, watch the 3 next episodes together or riot
Jack u should watch the next 3 together cause it’s an end to an ark, just saying tho
100% Jack please do this
Kensei has a 69 on his chest because he's a freak in bed. Also Akon is the obscure 3rd seat of the current 12th Divison with the little horns on his forehead that talked to Ichigo after Aizen left Soul Society. Also we see 2 frames of Kurotsuchi showering without his makeup on after all the captains learned Aizen killed Central 46 in the Soul Society Arc, he's just a normal looking guy he just has like 5 hours of makeup on him. These are really deep digs so don't feel bad for forgetting I have no idea how weekly JP readers remembered this while reading like 12 other manga at a time in Shounen Jump.
I don't think you recognized him but the Kido Commander, Tessai, is the other guy that works at Urahara's shop in the human world. As for the Gigai, standard ones are not banned and are frequently used when they go to the human world, but there is also highly advanced gigai specifically developed by Kisuke that can hide spiritual signatures (like his cloak) or turn a Soul Reaper into a human which are considered forbidden or highly illegal by Soul Society.
