Another reason to start reading the manga: When the One Piece is discovered it's going to be next to impossible to not be spoiled. My journey with One Piece started in the early days on the 2000s I went back and forth between manga and anime. We in the US probably started the earliest with monthly Shonen Jump but it was so slow. Like drop in the bucket slow. I don't remember when but anime fan translations became a big thing and it was ahead of monthly shonen jump. But soon after that the scanlation websites began and those released the weekly shonen jump from Japan every week so it was the best way to have the most up to date One Piece. The best part, Oda has only ever taken, at most, a one month break. He has a few times either for research, health, or holidays (which are planned) but it's never been longer than 1 month. Now adays he usually does about 3 chapters on, one off, unless there is a break in the weekly magazine. All that to say, if you do start the manga... I think you should consider starting at chapter 1. It will take you a few months to catch up and by then Elbaf should start again. Then after that you can decide having read all of the manga to that point.
If he starts reading the manga, personally I think the reactions are gonna take a hit , so many reactors who switched to the manga have since given lackluster reactions and honestly I've dropped them. I don't really wanna watch someone who already knows everything.
