From this backstory we also see that if you consume someone who has a DF, then you apparently gain their DF powers as if you ate the fruit. Morbid.

Never underestimate Jack's ability to miss important dialogue that explains things while he's screaming at the monitor hahaha. In Jack's defense, if you miss the narrator line about Linlin's tears obstructing her vision while she eats, the scene otherwise doesn't make it super obvious. They probably felt like they had to hold back a bit given that it's a show primarily aimed at young teens.
