King Canute attempting to command the tides was a real event in history. I think they also showed the Bayeux Tapestry depicting the battle of Hastings in 1066.
Jack you NEED to check out the manga for the end of Ketil's farm. Also Thorfinn was way more messed up in those panels making Canute not recognize him more apparent. They also explain pretty much everything that happened to everyone at Ketil's farm after like Thorgil who was only shown walking away here.
So many beautiful things going on in these episodes. One little detail I love is how no one was laughing at Thorfin at the end of the punching session
the next episode is going to cause a flood 😭
The way that season 1 and 2 feel so different but connected in the same way is insane. I remember dropping a comment last season when thorfinn met that slave girl and how their conversation comes full circle later on. It doesn't happen instantly but eventually it all makes so much more sense. I don't remember what episode it was exactly but I recommend going back and watching to get a better understanding of what they talked about.
Thorfinn beat Drott without throwing a single punch. That's what a true warrior is capable of.
Hnefatafl is a viking boardgame that sort of resembles chess, where one player has their Jarl (leader) in the middle of the board surrounded by guards, while the opposing player has their pieces on the sides. Look it up, its a real boardgame you can learn and play.
