Late to the party but the thing that Thorfinn was forgetting was Thors' lesson that "You have no enemies". And thats what he was struggling to remember these last couple of eps.
both this show and FMA got me FUCKED up
that part where you see thors also has people clinging onto him but he doesnt fall through the ground like thorfinn because he became a true warrior, show is too peak

I think that the thing he was forgetting was that a “true warrior needs no sword” and that kind of clicked in this episode imo at least
I love how much this switches the view of the watcher. Lots loved the heavy action and gore from the first season. Well unlike other shows continuing on with it this shows why it shouldn't be glorified and what happens after all the bloodshed to the people involved
Visuals for this episode were awesome, especially when Thorfinn was climbing back up. On another note, I dont know if this unpopular, but I find Thors's ideology to be shallow and restricting. I feel there are some situations people may be your enemies and you need to fight.
So I am only guessing here but I think the reason thorfinn sounded different in the dream is because it's a dream where thorfinn did not strain his voice from all the rage and screaming from his time with Askaladd
