Roblox Hacker Turned Educator 🎙️

What makes a hacker quit cybercrime?

In this interview, a Roblox exploiter breaks down his pivot from black-hat hacking to creating ethical reverse engineering tutorials at Guided Hacking.

In this episode of the Guided Hacking Podcast we get to hear from one of the most prominent hackers in the Roblox community, Sightem. We will talk about some of the coolest hacking projects that Sightem has completed, different types of optimization methods for Roblox, the history of Roblox hacking, the relationship between Synapse and Roblox, and what goes into analyzing an anti-cheat. Sightem has a lot of insight regarding the technical aspects of game hacking, so check out the episode to find out more about many of the things that aren't being talked about in other places!

Sightem has a history of developing cheat programs and automation tools for Roblox. In fact, he developed several of the most popular tools available to Roblox exploiters. Sightem is currently enrolled in Computer Engineering at UCLA, and works as a content creator for GuidedHacking.com. He has experience with C++, Assembly, and Reverse Engineering. After watching this video, you will have a better understanding of Sightem and how he got started in Roblox hacking!

Sightem talked about the history of Roblox hacking and how he first got into Roblox exploiting. He was first introduced to exploiting back in 2015-2016, during a time where exploits were very basic. Exploits during that period of time were poorly developed and designed. During those earlier years, Roblox had an option for players to run Lua scripts, but in an unusual and incomplete manner. The Roblox exploiting community reached its highest point of popularity when Synapse became the top tool, controlling the Roblox exploiting market. It was around this time that Byfron came out, changing things. I will discuss more about both Byfron and Synapse in the next part of the video.

Sightem was asked regarding his Game Hacking Archeology series that he is producing for GuidedHacking. You can watch the first episode here: Game Hacker's Lost Source Code Reverse Engineered. This first episode features a random cheat that was sent to Sightem by a user. This cheat is 15 years old, and Sightem had to figure out how to reverse engineer it. He stated that in the next installment of the Game Hacking Archeology series, aimbots have remained unchanged; ESP has remained unchanged; wallhacks have remained unchanged; however, the level of complexity within games has increased significantly, making writing cheats more challenging. He then went on to state that he received a 20-year-old cheat for the second installment of the Game Hacking Archeology series. The game/engine associated with this cheat is no longer indexed on Google. Additionally, this cheat employs a protection mechanism known as TE Lock.

Synapse's closure of its business was far more involved than a simple shut-down by Roblox. Sightem stated that although there were several rumors, a large reason for the closure of Synapse's business was the developer's uncertainty. Synapse stopped selling after Byfron was implemented. Luca, one of Synapse's co-creators, felt his skills were wasted even though Synapse made millions. Sightem discusses the entire situation with Synapse in greater detail throughout the episode.
