I have to admit, I am curious about the landlord thing - does the same apply if one rents out space on their own property? Like renting out a room, or if your house has an in-law suite that you rent to family or a friend until you need it for your parents or kids? I generally agree about landlords, but I feel differently if someone is offering their own extra space. My rule of thumb is, if selling the rental property means you are selling your own home that you live in, it’s not the same (but maybe I’m biased because I know a few people who rent out rooms to help make ends meet).

It pains me (a bit) to be this guy, but as to Devon's comment about MORENA being a new party... my sibling in Christ, Mexico has mixed electoral systems and not first-past-the-post for its legislature. The first time MORENA candidates were up for the Chamber of Deputies, they got 14 district seats but 21 proportional representation seats. The story's more complicated than that, sure. But I would argue that the existence of first-past-the-post in the U.S. and the UK at the national levels means we have to spend even more time on non-electoral tactics since we're not going to get a new voting method overnight. Moving outside of electoral power is way more important if there's this much systemic, mathematical blockage to a third party. ... and I say this as someone who has spent over a decade frustrated and being a leech on society working in his day job to try to get Democrats elected, Bernie amongst them at one point. 🙃

Why do people hate trains so much do they think trains are going to kidnap their car or something? Or is it just trains = something for the people and I hate people? Distrust of public projects as vectors for corruption? (If that's the case I have bad news for these folks about private enterprise) It would be interesting to see what happens if someone framed public transit as "get all these annoying people out of your way and on their way" or " your car deserves a lane all to itself" or "if there's going to be corruption regardless, might as well get something nice out of it"
