Out of curiosity would you recommend doing the characters stories first until you have to do the main story stuff?
I would suggest doing a mix, there are moments that can be better understood by doing both, and it may happen that to continue certain stories you need others.
The download speed of the game is limited. It takes a long time to download and my internet is quite fast.
