Superman & Lois "Always My Hero" 4x3 Reaction (Steven)

It’s been 4 season that he’s been waiting to get his powers… yet it feels rushed ? Cmon now

Three things about Jonathan powers and the development. For many people Smallville was there real big experience with Superman. And in the show it was a slow build with only a couple abilities at the go and then over time ability after ability came in with flight consciously being done after a decade (though he is shown flying earlier first season when asleep, and when his human side isn’t the driving factor had no issue at all. In the comics that’s not always been the case some versions have very young Clark already having pretty much all his abilities just not at there fullest. Ie diffference in power say of an 8 year old versus and in shape adult man. Jordan first displayed four abilities all under emotional distress all within about 2 days time. Heat vision, strength, speed, and durability. And over times those abilities increased in power. But stress was always the factor pushing growth. And self doubt always slowed them. His personality is heavily impacted by self doubt Jonathan has always been more sure of himself. Never the emotion duress his brother experienced with his mental health issues. So a delay in the initial trigger makes sense internally for the character. And there is a very very good for why once triggered he would gain a better level of mastery quicker and much quicker, than his brother. As mentioned Jonathan doesn't suffer from low self esteem, he hasn't had issue with mental health. Things have always come easy for him (direct quote from season 1, episode 1). So he likely isn't going to have any mental blocks preventing his use of abilities like what happened with Jordan (or how Smallville handled flying for example). But he has a massive, massive head start that Jordan didn't have. Jonathan has already used most of his kryptonian abilities previously. When using XK he used Super Speed, Strength, heat Vision, Telescopic vision, durability and hearing. The only two powers that Jonathan hadn't experienced with XK was X-ray vision and Flight. Thats it. He was already geared once triggered to be out the gate running.
