I just hope you’re a little more open minded moving forward…. Saying it’s a “dumbass daughter issue” and not a family issue is insane because you’ve complained about the way the parents operate before. Yes alli made mistakes but not talking to your daughter and giving her the cold shoulder constantly after she’s trying to change shouldn’t be the normal. Obviously she’s going to be emotional. An almost 16 year old doesn’t need her ass beat she needs a little guidance and open conversation…

Two thing can be true… you’ve literally complained about their parents in the past when it came to sav. Calling the dad strict and unfair. The parents do put a lot of pressure on their kids to be perfect. So I don’t understand how you don’t get where Ali is coming from just a little . Am I saying Ali is perfect? Not at all but she’s young and she makes mistakes but she was trying to fix and learn from them and her parents didn’t care. Them having therapy was good so they could better understand each other..

- i mean i get the storyline we're about to get into with Hj but it really wasnt needed honestly. i think they just wanted something to nail this "redemption arc" head on. at the same time though her overall arc has been wanting to go to Yale & she got in i dont understand why she couldn't just rest or they give this storyline to someone else. - the letter thing would've made sense had they actually all been going to degrassi around that time but it would've also been like a better swing around story had they did an ep at the beginning of the season - alli pretty much did try everything, her next of one two steps was either offing herself or becoming a nun - you don't have to necessarily "care" about the alli's storyline but you should be interested in it it's important & relevant. i think you're trying to base it off just drew & drew alone when it's based off her entire time at degrassi so far. one of the focal points of alli's story-arc overall is that she just wants to live her life like a normal teenager. she made mistakes just like any other teenager on degrassi but she's not able to just deal with that openly grow from it & move on it. instead it's the same cycle of her going through something, hiding & dealing with it. due to how strict her parents are, you can see when it was all laid out on the table and in order to fix that bridge she did what she thought was best in order to please them & when one little incident happened again instead of hearing her out they tore into her immediately & left it at that - i love the growth from johnny - *SIGH* they could've gave Wes something else to do - i love how they subtly brought up jt & how johnny was there during that mess 😭 - holly j & sav never slept together, they just made out in secret from my recognition - "little problem" is crazy, like girl who the hell are you - whoever put melinda in that wig needs JAIL TIME - they should've did a major std storyline again for next gen because the only time they did one was in degrassi high, throughout next gen & next class they were all cureable - alli would've been better off going to an internet cafe than talking to a stranger who was also on the street. i will agree with you on that 😭 - she doesn't need her ass "whooped" 9 times out of 10 kids aren't just running away for no reason. the problem starts at home! - this story is it! like i said earlier it was very necessary sav's never had to deal with too much from them aside from him dating anya in secret & the car storyline but it would've been a continuous repeated cycle until Alli's time was done at degrassi if this didn't happen. like it's one thing to be caring for your child & authoritative when needed but to be completely authoritarian 24/7 is not okay and it does nothing but establish a lack of foundation and builds resentment & sneaky behavior that was already present. like when sav was speaking he was barely speaking on his behalf because he's never had to deal with his parents the way that alli has to. like they're the prime example of growing up in the same household with completely different parents. - manny & alli are practically at the same level. hell i love her to bits but manny was pushing it & doing shit up until her senior year they didn't even really give her a break until she started dating jay if were being honest. - what do you mean sure?! they have lost touch & it's a prime example of different generations & growing up in a poc household of where everything is followed through with "my way or the highway" - a family therapist was very much needed, hell lots of families would benefit from a family therapist. it's not to "save her" they all have things that they need to work on even though sav's issues are no way in comparison with alli's there are still some things to work on

I also don’t understand how you understand the hate for Manny’s father and the way he handled Manny but you don’t understand what Alli’s father did wrong in the situation. Both Alli and Manny made teenage mistakes but you were more sympathetic to Manny than Alli.

What are the strict rules Ali’s parents have that you deem too strict?

Saying Alli needs her “ass beat” for running away. Comments like that is why we say generational trauma is real because literally what would that solve when the whole family’s issue is their communication. Beating her would just reinforce that the parents are terrible communicators.

I just don’t understand how you don’t think Alli and Sav’s parents played any part in their children acting out. That’s why they ALL need therapy because everyone played a part in the fall of their household.

Steven’s whole pov on the Alli storyline is such an older brother male centric POV tbh. He is literally Sav before Sav learned how misogynistic he was being. Like Alli never said she wasn’t making mistakes and her parents grew up in a different generation and needed family therapy just as much as Sav and Alli. Like you can tell Steven doesn’t know what it’s like growing up as the only girl in a POC household. Especially if you had an older brother.
