Update on PC situation

Hey guys!

I got home from the shop an hour ago and yes, the SSD was causing the crashes. Apparently it seriously oversused the past years that caused the windows to malfunction. So yeah, making a lot of adult stuff has a toll on hardware I guess.

Anyways, it was replaced and the repair guy could successfully clone the faulty SSD's full content over to the new one. There was still a chance that things will not work as intended, but i'm happy to tell everyone, that after a full hour of testing, everything seems to be in working condition without the need to reinstall and readjust anything. I only lost the past two days work progress, so that's a bummer, but still a small price to pay to a have a fully operational system. I will keep on testing things just to be sure, but it seems good so far.

I want to thank everyone for all the good wishes and helpful suggestions. I'm convinced if there is some cosmic force in existence that shapes things around us, all your positive energy helped to tilt things to my and my PC's favor. So thank you again. I promise to reward everyone with more fun comics and conent to all our enjoyment in the future.

So thank you again. You are all the best audience and supporters anyone could wish for :)

sometimes these repair shops make a copy of these hard drives to see what's on it.......

S
SitriAbyss · March 20, 2026

I guess that's possible, but i trust them. I'm a very long term customer, probably over 20 years now and they are family friends. But yeah, we can never be 100% certain.

Glad to hear you're back up and running! 🎉 Just a small correction worth knowing for the future: SSDs don't actually "wear out" from heavy use in the way you might think. The real culprit is something called write endurance — every SSD has a limited number of write cycles per cell (called TBW, or Terabytes Written), and once that's exceeded, the drive can start behaving erratically. Heavy creative work like rendering, exporting, and constantly saving large files does genuinely accelerate this, so your instinct isn't wrong — it's just a more specific mechanism than general overuse. One thing worth noting: this is actually an SSD-specific problem. Traditional mechanical hard drives (HDDs) don't have write cycle limits the same way, so they tend to fail differently — usually from physical wear on the spinning platters or read/write heads, rather than from write exhaustion. For the future, it's worth occasionally checking your SSD's health with a free tool like CrystalDiskInfo (Windows) — it shows your TBW usage and overall drive health, so you can catch issues before they cause crashes.

Yes, that's what the repair guy told me as well. Apparently I had around 40TB on my SSD which was apparently a LOT! And yes, I still use a HDD as well in combination with the SSD Thank you for the idea. I make sure to check that out and pay more attention, and back things up more often for sure.

You should check if you're using it for virtual memory and temp files

S
SitriAbyss · March 20, 2026

I will, thanks for the idea.

So I guess the price of jealousy is one SSD

S
SitriAbyss · March 20, 2026

Yes, the comic and all the files are intact, I just need to redo the things that I did since the last update. I will manage that fast, maybe one or two days delay :)
