Medicines:
Scurvy Tonic - Taken to cure 'Sea Scurvy' Illness
Anti Venom Tonic - Taken to cure 'Poisonous Spider Bite'
Basic Salve - To cleanse and prevent infection while applied for certain injuries [OR]
Poultice for Infection - To remove and prevent infection while applied.
Bandages - To reduce injury buffs and reduce risk of infection.
Jar of Leeches - To reduce injury buffs.
Herbalism Remedies
(Outdoor Retreat GP needed for these to work correctly)
Leeches
Applying Leeches can help reduce negative [injury/sickness/ailment] buffs while applied. You can remove and re-collect the leeches before the buff runs out (chance based).
If leeches are kept on too long, your sim may experience side effects -
buff Plasma~Drained and will need to wait for the negative effects to wear off.
Infection
Some injuries carry the risk of Infection. It is handy to keep some 'Basic Salve' stocked and ready to apply.
Basic Salve - This will cleanse the injury and prevent infection while the buff is active [OR]
Poultice (for infection) - This will remove any current infection and protect from further infection until the buff expires.
Once the buff times out, your sim could develop infection again if they are still injured. Reapplication is needed to prevent infection.
Tonics
Currently there are only 2 tonics, each for specific purposes:
Scurvy Tonic - To Treat Sea Scurvy
Anti-Venom Tonic - To Treat Venomous Spider Bites
Bandages
Bandages can be purchased at the Herbalist Shoppe or handknitted via the Medicine Box (Nifty Knitting sp). They can be used as they are or shop bought bandages can be boiled via the Medicine Box to increase their healing powers. They will reduce or remove Injury Buffs.
‼️ Shop bought Bandages have a chance of causing infection if not cleaned.
Download + Play
For now, the download is an All-in-1 (apart from the overrides) - a more customisable download will be available in the future.
Download the MedicineBox.package + any override packages you'd like
Place in mods folder
Also have my Hunting & Foraging Mod & Homestead Helper (uses cooking props) installed
The Medicine Box can be found by searching Claire's Medicine Box or 'LBB' and also found under small appliance, activity knowledge & decorative clutter.
At the moment, a lot of the parts available are not in their complete versions and are sort of 'place holders' eg. buff descriptions, tooltips etc - I will be going back over these to polish them up/rewrite some as there will undoubtably be spelling and other errors 😅
Right now, this release version is to get some outside opinions on how well it's working in game for different playstyles. So any feedback is much appreciated 😊
Feedback that would be helpful:
- The frequency of injuries - Are they too frequent? Not Enough? (at the moment the injury buffs to select from is small, so you may experience the same buff back to back - this should be solved once I add more options to keep things fresh)
- Infection - Is this also happening too often? (I will be adding more options for healing in the future)
- let me know if there's anything that doesn't seem to function as you think it should - eg. any injuries that you think should have healed after applying medicine.
- also let me know if there's anything that isn't explained well or covered in the post (I've tried to be thorough but I know what to expect whereas this will be unfamiliar for you)
Please remember this is only the beginning and I will be expanding
- I hope you enjoy! 😊💚
And yes, I will be making another medicine box variant that is more compact before anyone asks 😉😆
Of course if you do have any questions, ask away! 😊
✅ Compatible with Elilya Medieval Apothecary Mod

This is so cool! And so inspired! Thank you for making it and for sharing it! It really adds to the unpredictability of historical living.
I don't know why, but after the September update, the Sims can't finish the action. They start doing and then they stop because they don't have a passage. Of course, this is not the case and I have tried everything. It wasn't that way, so I deleted it and downloaded the whole file again, but it didn't work. I don't konw what to do. Has anyone have idea?
This looks absoluetly fantastic! Can't wait to use it and make my medieval sim's lives even harder :-)
This is so fun, thank you! For the Poultice for Infection recipe, one of the ingredients does not say what it is from what I can see. It says 1 onion, 1 ingredient but does not say what, 1 honey, and 2 nettle. It looks like I can still make it with what ingredients I do have for reduced price, so still functional as it is, but wanted to bring this to your attention if this can be resolved in the future. I am not using either override, just the Claire's Medicine Box file. Thanks!!
Like it
what if there were band-aids for children and toddlers
this is cool
This is so cool! Love the Outlander reference :)
I thought you needed both EBN & OR to use it. Interesting. This looks like it can bring interesting scenarios into the game! Thanks Jess 😊
I tried to keep most of it base game but I definitely wanted to incorporate the herbalism and apothecary skills to try and get as much cross pack compatibility as possible and expand upon existing gameplay. I'm excited to see what I can add to it 😃
could it be possible in the future that there could be a career attached ?? like a way for us to be a medieval doctor or healer alongside the medicine box
It's something i'd love to add! Hopefully I can find time to make something 😊
I think I noticed a glitch where your sim can't put books down and need to be reset frequently. I think it might be because of claire's medicine box being able to hold books? I don't know
Oh okay i'll look into this! Thanks for letting me know :)
Are you aware that the Herbalism recipes that can be made on the Apothecary Table with your override increase the Apothecary Skill instead of the Herbalism skill?
That was by choice but I think i'll look into adding some herbalism skill increase too :)
This is everything I ever wanted everrrr
Mostly love it so far! I do think the injuries seem to be pretty frequent, feels like almost every time my sim goes to get things she gets bitten or mauled. Also, I would LOVE it if we could one way or another scavenge or make everything? Instead of only being able to buy bandages, what if we could craft them from wool?
For hunting and foraging activities it is currently set to 40% chance so I can lower it, at least until there is more buff variety . If your sim has any spoiled food in their inventory it does increase the chances of the bear attack but with the buff selection being so small at the moment it will probably feel too frequent) I did originally have an option to craft the bandages using wool but I thought it looked a bit strange in the menu having them listed above each other so I opted for store bought instead but I can re-add them in 😊
I've been looking forward to this one! Can't wait to try it out!
I'm assuming that this will directly conflict with Elilya's Medieval Apothecary mod: https://www.patreon.com/Elilya/posts/medieval-161442025
No they should be compatible, especially the medicine box as that doesn't override anything - the only possible conflict is the overrides for the herbalism tonics + apothecary table (for adding the herbalism tonics to the table) but as they currently are, they are working fine together for me and I have checked that their apothecary menu still shows up on the table too 😊
does the herbalism override feature of this mod interfere/conflict with "simularity's better herbalism potions and features" mod? https://simularity.cc/mods/tuning/better-herbalism/
Hi, after a quick look the 'inventory' package they have should not conflict but the 'ingredient' package will (unless you were to open the package and manually remove the stove recipe options as I haven't included the grill recipes in my package) While I haven't edited the ingredients in mine yet, it is something I will be doing in the future. I have also added in some tuning to give extra remedies, tooltip hover, adjust pricing/object state for purchasing and object tunings for buff removals.
