What happens in year seven of Bloodlines? The results are in!

We've tabulated the results, and it's time to share!

October's poll presented a special opportunity for Defilers to chime-in on where they want future Bloodlines development to focus. They received a wishlist based on comments received throughout the year and chose every statement they agreed with (even if some of those statements contradicted others).

What were the most popular responses?

Out of 55 respondents, 52 agreed that they "want to see a canon ending where everyone is turned into a vampire."

52 also said they "want Lisa to become the new head vampire."

48 replied that they "prefer to see multiple transformations in group scenes."

38 said they "can't wait to see Sister Hortense fall to the vampires."

35 respondents "want to see the vampires bite people more."

33 said they "like seeing vampiresses wear glasses like they did when they were human."

What were the least popular responses?

Out of 55 respondents, only 1 wants "the choices I make in the game to prevent me from going down other paths."

2 replied that "keeping up with the schedule is more important than fixing bugs."

4 respondents "want to see a vampire completely drain a victim (fatal)."

4 said they "want the UI and script improved, even if that means less hardcore content in an update."

6 agreed that they "want to see our human characters kill some vampires."

7 respondents "want to see a canon ending where our human characters win."

8 replied that "don't want any more first tier vampiresses"

What does this mean for future development? Two of the statements in the poll received the highest number of upvotes we've ever had: "I want to see a canon ending where everyone is turned into a vampire" and "I want Lisa to become the new head vampire." I'd say it's quite clear where people want this story to go, and we'll see how close we can get to that over the next year.

"I prefer to see multiple transformations in group scenes" also scored very high, which is heartening because those updates take more work than anything else (and probably contain more content than most adult games that are ever released). We'll see how many of those we can get done, since they push HoneySelect to the breaking point and often lead to crashes.

We also saw a number of people vote for the fall of Sister Hortense, highlighting the popularity of corrupting the Church. We're going to see how far we can get with this, since this involves a number of Bloodlines and narrative beats that don't intertwine with the action at the Academy, Town Hall, or most of the vampire hangouts.

A number of people also "want to see the vampires bite people more," echoing a critique I've seen a lot lately. Biting tends to lead to the most rapid transformations, risks discovery by humans, and also injects violence into pretty much any interaction. While the vampires have been "laying low" as best they can, I think it's fair to say we'll be seeing a higher number of bites in the future.

I'll also keep the comments with middling popularity in mind, going forward. Even though only a handful of responses earned more than a 50% approval rate, I won't ignore the requests for things like more human characters trying to resist their own corruption, more scenes at Valerie's bar, and more scenes at the Church.
