Useful Tip on Breaking Guitar Speed Plateaus
When attempting faster and faster speeds during metronome training/practice, we often run into speeds that seem impossible. Something I do that helps a great deal of the time is to play the same drill, lick, riff, etc. at slower subdivisions.
The example shown in the video is for a sextuplet pattern (6 notes per click). What I like to do with a scale run like this is play it as quarter notes, then 8th notes, then 8th note triplets, then 16th notes, and then back to sextuplets.
Sometimes just playing it as 8th note triplets a couple of times is enough, but when it's REALLY hard, I do find that the other subdivisions can really help me continue to push faster and faster.
