Translating the Game into Other Languages
Dear friends, please read this post all the way to the end before you start voting.
We’ve been receiving a number of requests from you all to translate Knightly Passions into additional languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, French, German, and others. There are just over two months left before the game is released on Steam. We want to be as transparent as possible with you; we have a solution, but perhaps not the best.
After deliberating within the team, we’ve concluded that we could try translating the game into some languages that we could manage using machine translation. There’s a great deal of text — approximately 850-900 thousand characters (including spaces), which is equivalent to around two standard full-length books. Given the small size of our team, that’s quite a lot for us. Thus, we're telling you in advance of the difficulties posed by translation.
Right now, we’re seeking people who are willing to help us translate the game and verify the quality of the translations into other languages. If you can help the project in any way with translation, verification, or translation testing, then please send us a message on Discord in the #Translators channel:
And now, if you would like to play the game in a language other than English or Russian, please take part in the voting.

Türkiye'den oynuyorum. Zerre İngilizce bilmiyorum ama yandex çeviri sayesinde hem en hızlı şekilde hemde kusursuz bir hızda oyunu bitirdim ve çok güzel bir deneyimdi
if you need a translator for the dutch language, just let me know
I've uninstalled games that I thought were good just because the bad translation/grammar. It ruins immersion for me. Also please be aware that idioms are hard to translate and if it's too strict to the original it might sound wrong/stilted. So I would prefer a good translation over a fast one. Otherwise thanks for a fantastic game.
Tough call for a dev. Translations done by non-native speakers are notoriously horrible. Many colloquialisms do not have direct translations between languages and cultures. In my experience bad translations can do more harm than average quality art or a weak storyline. If you opt for the machine translations, make sure you warn the player upfront at time of purchase and to expect tranches of proper translations coming soon if you really want to push to market. Better to have 50 thumbs up than 100 thumbs down on release day.
