TO THE RESCUE - Dog to Dog Adoptions (Part 1)
So, you already have a dog, and you want to adopt another one. Great! Just one tiny problem: your dog gets a vote too.
Believe it or not, matching dogs isn’t speed dating. Personalities matter. Temperaments matter. Energy levels matter. And most importantly, safety matters. So when an adopter starts getting impatient and wants us to hurry things along, we sometimes have to ask the question nobody really wants to hear:
Why is it that we care more about your dog than you do?
Buckle up. This episode of To The Rescue is probably going to raise a few hackles... and we’re not talking about the dogs.

Waiting on part 2. R there things one can do to prepare their current dog to help the transition to adding another dog? Specifically if the current dog is deaf?

As a pit bull mom, I've made mistakes and can relate to your rant. I had 3 females at once, as I didn't know it was a thing. My first 2 were absolute besties. My 3rd I picked up as a stray and she beat up the other two a few times. She totally disrupted our happy household. We took steps to keep the peace and thankful it worked. A lot of lessons learned. Now my other 2 have passed, one from old age and the other from cancer. She is now alone the most amazing dog. As much as I want to adopt another, I won't until she's gone.
I love this, thank you Tia!! It took us a while to get another dog after we adopted Jade and when we did a couple of meet and greets with the first one, the personalities didn't work, so we knew it wasn't going to fit. We were also told that Jade may not want to share her space and we would have to respect that :)
Is bully breed to bully breed good or bad? Just wondering. I can't get another pet because Kit would beat them up or die trying.
We learned a a lot from you when we introduced a new dog in our home!
