FYC: Unlocks? (public)
FYC's launch on newgrounds has lead to some overwhelming feedback, but theres one thing in particular that keeps getting mentioned -- unlocks.
I'm kinda on the fence about having poses/characters gated off from the start and selling them back for cum-points throughout play. now, yeah, it's probably better game design and would feel more rewarding ... if it was like that from the start.
but I've got a pretty good hunch that theres gonna be plenty more complaints if I suddenly blocked off something that was once free for everyone
theres no way I'm rolling that dice on my own, so naturally, I'll leave it to a poll.
also, if you've got vote power, be sure to vote in the other sections as well

oh, and just to be clear: I dont have plans for any extra bonus content.
the unlocks will be for champs and poses that are already in the game.
(and the newest costumes too.)
(also, yes. inner circle cheats would unlock everything like normal)

Let's not try to act like anyone places these kinds of games for the gameplay.
yeah, it was weird hearing about how theres no "late game" to this ... like okay??
I think Jeno is right, about making it an option. So players who want to enjoy everything on first launch will be able to do it, but people wanting to have a feeling of progress over this game can enabable the option whenever they want. And you can put a message about it on the title screen so they'll know how to do so.
how bout being able to unlock stuff along the way while you level up, but not have things like "type this code" to get insta-unlocks? that'd be more interesting gameplay-wise.
Yep, thats already the idea. its only cheat mode that would still work like before.

There would be people playing earlier versions then, I think. Or hacked .swf's or something like that. I don't think it's a good idea to do it now, only if it's as an option. Even though I'd prefer some kind of unlocks in most games. I think for FYC it doesn't even make much sense to do it. It's as you say, it's not like there is any kind of story or such... :)
well, whatever keeps everyone happy.. it's out of my hands now! I cant wait to get called a sellout for listening to the free public comments on NG tho

Why not both? Maybe you could implement a "story mode" and an "arcade mode".
that.. would probably be an abuse of the term 'story' and I mean, the cheat mode is always gonna be there for big spenders.. but honor system + "skip grind" button from the get-go seems kinda pointless
