"In My Dreams" (Dokken) Solo Lesson/Analysis

You can't have a list of perfect solos without including this absolute gem of the golden era of Hair Metal! Admitedly I don't know all that much about Dokken and George Lynch's playing but I've always been a huge fan of this solo and it's undoubtedly an all-time classic.

These 16 bars are an absolute masterclass in solo writing and I often cite it as a reference when teaching students about phrasing and solo construction. Each pair of bars is a perfect example of "call and response", continuously ebbing back and forth between tension and release. So if you want something to study to improve your solo writing THIS is it! (Just beware of the that monstrous stretchy lick)

Good luck and don't forget to share your progress with everyone in the Discord server!
