"Rising Force" (Yngwie Malmsteen) Solo Lesson/Analysis
I somehow haven't covered any Yngwie yet here at the Guitar School so I figured it's about time we fix that! Get your dohnuts, leather pants and dangley bling ready as today we're looking at his most iconic solo, from the song Rising Force.
This solo is quite unique for Yngwie in the fact that it's mostly thoroughly composed, as opposed to improvized (which the vast majority of his solos are), so I think it makes it a really awesome piece of guitar playing to study! Just be warned, you're gonna need some pretty frightening economy picking chops to get those 2-string arpeggios licks down.
Note: the video walkthrough lesson is just for the main solo. I didn't bother going over the other 2 mini solos as they're completely improvized and very sloppy, so in my opinion there's not really much to be gained by going into them in-depth. But if you're a completionist and wanna learn the whole thing then please go ahead!

Thanks for posting this! I worked on the original tabs some years ago when they were first released but never took enough time to *perfect the solos and phrases. I'm correcting that now! I've got the main theme down and have progressed to the actual solo section of the tab. Broke out my home built scallop neck for this one and I'm in shred heaven! 🤘

Fingerings can feel deceptively tricky. It looks simple at first glance, but when your fingers don’t cooperate, it suddenly feels like climbing a wall. Honestly, mastering fingerings is one of the hardest parts of learning any instrument.
