Discord Access
Hey everyone! Hope you’re all doing well.
I wanted to give you a quick heads-up about something. Discord recently updated and is now requiring age verification to access +18 channels and even receive certain images in DMs.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to verify my identity yet. I tried both face recognition and ID photo, but neither worked properly. The system they’re using doesn’t seem very reliable, as the images don’t come out clear even with a good camera.
I’ve already contacted support and I’m waiting for a response.
For now, I don’t have access to my server, but I can still reply in DMs, just with some limitations on sending files.
If any of you managed to get verified, please tell me how you did it :(

Pherhaps use an VPN?
Maybe, yeah. I’m not a big fan of VPNs, but I might give it a try. Especially if I end up getting one bundled with an antivirus. Free ones though, probably not, since they’re usually too slow.

You should just have to link your Patreon and Patreon will auto join it
Enforced state control and censorship yaaaaay <3 Personally I don't want to upload any photos / face recognition data of me to platforms like these (or anything really). Especially with regular security breaches and all the "grey" data sharing, and sometimes straight up illegal personal data selling (wait till AI learns to use that digital face print data to produce proper "deepfakes". Oh wait...! ) Having a patreon-discord integration is convenient. But convenience often comes with a price. Having an alternative platform, just in case, without all that enforced crap would be good to have
Yeah, I get where you’re coming from. Discord is just really convenient for me because it’s popular and easy for people to use and interact on, so I’m not sure I’d move to another platform. That’s why I’m feeling a bit stuck right now if I can’t get my identity verified. At the same time, I totally agree with you. I’m not a fan of having to send photos or ID to platforms like this either, especially knowing how messy data handling can be. It’s just a really frustrating situation overall.

It seems like they’re rolling it out gradually. In some countries it was already implemented last year, and for me it only showed up this month.
