Another great stream, Trevor! I have a suggestion for a Patreon/YouTube supporter stream. Set up a scenario in advance with several characters on each side of a confrontation, then play through the turns of combat. It wouldn't have to take up the entire stream, as I don't think it would take that long.

Hey Trevor! I love that you’re doing these live streams. I won’t be able to make it, but I wanted to post these questions for you if you can get to them: QUESTION: I've heard you, Trevor, mention the hesitation when rolling 3d6 in GURPS. As someone who also feels that, I’m curious—how did you get along with The One Ring, where you roll multiple d6s and a d12? Did that old hesitation creep in, or did it feel different for you? QUESTION: Trevor, since you're playing Dragonbane with your home group, have you heard of Trudvang? It was just Kickstarted by Free League. It’s the Dragonbane ruleset but in a Celtic/Nordic setting. I found it interesting because it had two sets of journey rules—one for short hops and another for vast journeys, kind of like what you mentioned with Broken Empires. I was curious about your thoughts! QUESTION: Trevor, I know you used Dominion rules in Me, Myself & Die. I saw the Sage’s Library episode where you talked about Dominion rules before playing. After spending time with it, what’s your take now? Thanks for all you do! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and the combat deep dive!

Thanks Paul! I may have to answer these in the next stream - today’s is all about the combat chapter in TBE :)

And forget not to discuss the magic in tBE combat! I could imagine that such a fantastic magic system would allow quite a variety of totally different ways of using magic in combat. Want to share some interesting, creative examples from the game testing?

I’ll try, but today’s stream is specially about updating the backers and doing a deep dive into the combat chapter. Weave magic is its own chapter, which would take its own stream to cover!

I'm the guy who is all about complications and interesting turns and twists. So, naturally I'm interested in how the combat in tBE supports interesting complications. Being low lethality is a good start! Want to share some stories from tBE game testing on what type of complications combat may result when the character is not dead but cannot fight either? Tell us the best stories! :)

In the last session I brought up the topic of replacing death partially by other major failure states. The discussion fastly turned to the question of whether death should be on the table or not. Actually, that was not what I meant to say. I wanted to discuss if emphasizing more other major failure states makes better games. How lethal the game is, is irrelevant. This is about the world pushing back. And pushing back *more*. What I see is that often the world pushes back, failures happen, but the “pushing back” rarely *really* changes the direction of the adventure (=major failure). PCs move from A to B with only some curves in between. What I mean to say, maybe we should let the world push back in a way that we end up to C or D instead of the expected B. Or the way to B is nothing we could have expected. Success leads to expected direction, so we rely on the failures (and major twists) in redirecting from the expected. When watching a movie or reading a book, the best, most exciting moment is somewhere in the middle when you realize that you have absolutely no idea where it's all going to lead! What do you think of all this? Is my point understandable? I hope it's not too philosophical, haha. :)
