Second pass: styling technologies as languages
I still need to work on this idea, but it is gradually taking shape. So this is a second pass at it (this time with some drawings!) As always, I coded entirely in HTML and CSS, even when tempted to use the Tailwind and Sass logos as SVGs.
Some things to work on:
Less: the text is not that great. I had an initial version (available in the live demo linked below) about it being better in the past and going through some rough patches recently... but I wasn't sold on it. And I'm not sold on this one, either.
CSS-in-JS: same thing as with Less. I'm unconvinced of the text (that is, "please love me back" in Esperanto).
Bulma: I need to check with some people about the appropriateness of this one. Sanskrit is considered a sacred language in Hinduism (it's the language of the Gods, thus the superior status)
Some things I like:
Each one of the logos is a single element, which was fun to do (especially BEM and Tailwind)
The speech bubbles are not the regular rounded speech bubble but some irregular-shaped ones.
The font: some people told me that the "Amatic SC" font is not easy to read (and I agree), so I tried different options and finally opted for this one ("Patrick Hand SC"). Hopefully, it will be easier to read... even when it's a bit small 😅
Here's a private CodePen with the source code and live demo.
