Digital values publication ending in January 2028 for new properties releasing in CSS

Following the July 1st message sent by Sony and PlayStation, the CSS Working Group has decided to adopt a similar approach. One that all web developers are sure to support.

As developers preferences and the broader web development industry continue to shift away from digital formats toward physical media, CSS will discontinue distribution of digital values for all new properties beginning January 2028.

Following this date, updated values will be available at authorized retailers exclusively on physical discs and USB drives. This transition has no impact on values that already released, or will be releasing, prior to January 2028 in digital format.

This is a natural direction for CSS to adapt to developer trends as the general preference for physical discs significantly outpaces digital media. This transition will enable CSS to align more closely with how most of the dev community prefers to access and use values today.

CSS will continue to prioritize resources to drive innovation in how developers can access properties and provide choices as to where to purchase new values. CSS remains committed to delivering a world-class styling experience to all devs and we thank you for your continued support.
