Monster Movie Auditions

Next week’s cartoon was inspired by a comic strip from Liniers’ Macanudo (always amazing, you should check it out if you haven’t read it before).

This comic is one of those recurring reminders to use semantic HTML and to take advantage of all the native capabilities and functionality you get out of the box when you use the correct (and accessible) HTML element.

The most obvious case: a <button>. For some weird reason, even in this day and age, there are still many developers who think that using a <div> and adding functionality with JavaScript is the same as what you get with a button or a link. Just use the native element.

As an alternative, I created a different version in which the monster is a Tailwind user. Here’s a picture of it (it’s from an earlier version, so the devil is wearing a shirt and doesn’t have a pitchfork):
