Movie Hangout Tree with Lanterns made Off The Grid Compatible - Override
07/04/2026 edit: The tree won't fade any more, even if you zoom in very close. Redownload if you care!

Hi everyone!
As you might have noticed, in the last patch EA made lots of lights off the grid compatible. Lots... But not all. They forgot this beautiful tree with hanging lanterns, which most definitely shouldn't need electricity to work, but still does. Well, by some miracle I managed to fix that. Now it should work properly even on off the grid lots. Good for all our hippie sims!
It's an override, i.e. a default replacement of the original tree. I didn't change anything else except for adding the OTG functionality.
NOT Base Game compatible. Requires Movie Hangout SP.
Please keep in mind that this is my first fully successful modding attempt ever, so it might be that I overlooked something. It works perfectly fine in my game and I'm 99% sure I didn't mess anything up, but it's still a very new territory to me. In case you experience any problems, please let me know what happened!
(And if you use it and it works as intended, please let me know as well, I'll be relieved :) ).
I know it's a very non-typical piece for me, but I needed to do some testing after the last patch and automatically went down my favourite Hippie Living© route - and I just can't have a proper hippie lot without this tree. No worries, I'm not switching to non-historical stuff for good. In fact, I already have another 1890s piece half-done ;).
Hope you'll find it useful, enjoy!

Thank you for this!
Glad you like it! :)
Fantastic! I missed this so hard in my game for all the OffTheGrid lots. Thanks and maybe you can create more offgrid lights? Best regards from Austria
Thank you! That's great to know it's useful :). You mean converting other lights, so that they'd work off the grid, or making my own? I'm not really planing on making my own lights right now (too much stuff on the to-do-list!), but if it's about converting - why not? It's easy once you know how to do it :). Tell me if you mean something specific! (Also, I already promised someone to make a short tutorial on how to make things OTG compatible and I hope to work on it in the next days... But hush!)
