Early Access // The Millionaire Milliner

Coming soon to a YouTube channel near you, The Millionaire Milliner, the Film Noir Lookbook that broke me last week.

This was supposed to have been last Thursday's (well, okay...Friday's at least?!?) video but while still editing at 2:30 am on Thursday night I realized the music I had first wanted to use just wasn't working...and that I had to call it. It wasn't going to happen, the video wasn't going to be finished in time to go up like I had hoped. This was /not/ easy for me to accept. I hate missing my deadlines! But I was beat, a hundred tiny issues had all added up, I had already been working overtime for days, and I had no choice but to surrender.

I just finally finished the video tonight (Sunday) and it will go up on the channel for all on Thursday, but of course I wanted to give you all here on Patreon early access. Thank you so much for supporting me and my work, making more involved (maybe too involved sometimes...) projects like my lookbooks possible. I hope you enjoy the video!

Also, I exported the soundtrack a little differently this time to better preserve the "old radio"-ish effects, let me know if you sensed any difference or have any problems with the sound on your end. Thank you!

EDIT: Hello again, I added in a flash warning to the opening credits, and so had to reupload a new version of the video with that included, ergo, I lost your lovely comments over on YouTube in order to do so! I'm sorry about that!! ❤

Wow! I've loved your channel for a bit but never bothered watching the look books until I became a patron and started listening to you talk about them in the podcast. You mention frequently that they don't do as well as your other videos on YouTube, and I'm curious if you've considered that there may be other people like me who just plain don't realize that your "look books" (which to me, at least, sound static and boring) are fully-realized short films?

Eleven minutes of pure escapism. I love the shadows cast on the wall by the lighting and the sounds effects of the photography. It was all just fabulous! Thank you Bianca

OMG that was awesome! I loved the authentic orchestral score and shots of LA.

T
The Closet Historian · December 1, 2020

Thank you Sarah! It was that darn music that I spend hours and hours trying to find and mix right because indeed I wanted an orchestral score for most of it like the real noir's had ❤

Rob Ferguson · November 30, 2020

Applause! You look luscious in that white gown!

T

Magda Mazur · November 30, 2020

It’s AMAZING. 12/10, will watch over and over again. It’s literally perfect - clothes, story, everything it’s spot on. Count me as obsessed, to the point where I think I need an evening gown. Making me want one in 2020 is an achivment in itself 😂❤️

T
The Closet Historian · December 1, 2020

Thank you Magda! ❤ Evening gowns are indeed rather impractical in 2020, except for swanning about the house in ;)

Thank you Lynne! ❤

Thea Maia · November 30, 2020

Bianca this blew my mind! The sound and images - just everything was beyond! When you release this please put a warning that it has flashing lights - those are a huge trigger for those of us that have migraines. The sounds of the flashbulbs breaking was cool (I had my eyes shut) The gowns!!! The accessories!! The sparkly fabrics! Your acting! The old radio sound! Chef’s 💋!!!!!!!!!! INCREDIBLE

T
The Closet Historian · December 1, 2020

Thank you Thea! I will certainly add a flash warning in the beginning credits bit, I never really know where the "line" is between too flashy it's true, so thank you! It took me a WHILE to find the old camera flash sounds and I did supplement with some just regular old breaking glass too for variety. I thought it was going to be such an easy "oh let me go grab that sound effect" moment, but nooot so much 😅

Raelene Byrnes · November 30, 2020

I am breathless at absolutely everything about this...no stone unturned and no detail emitted....holy Hollywood Batman...Bianca you are a one woman artist with a depth of artistry that is gobsmackingly, heart stoppingly glorious........thank you...

T
The Closet Historian · December 1, 2020

Thank you so much Raelene! ❤

L
Lacey Bertrand · November 30, 2020

This video surpasses your already outstanding look book calibre! I can definitely see why it demanded the extra production time. I LOVE everything about this!! Side note: I did notice a slight difference in the sound; it sounds more "old timey" to me, which definitely worked with the format.

T
The Closet Historian · December 1, 2020

Thank you Lacey! I didn't normalize the loudness (not that I really know what that means) this time so I'm glad it was okay!

Donna Bowers · November 30, 2020

SMOKIN!!! Every outfit was delicious and your storylines are perfection. So where is the body buried??? ;-P
