Early Access // This Week's Upcoming Sewing Video

Hello all! I hope you are all doing okay after this last week. I have been taking some time to rest after that mayhem grind to finish so much of the Victorian costume on time for Halloween. This week on the channel I'll be showing how I pattern draft my side pleated/draped skirts and making a new one in sparkling iridescent linen. Some of you may remember this linen fabric from when I made a blouse out of it earlier in the year here in a Patreon exclusive video. I finally used up the rest to make this skirt!

I am just realizing tonight that when I upload these as normal but preview them for all of you  to view early like this it probably still shows you all ads even though the video is unlisted, which is unfortunate, so let me know-- is that the case? I'd like to always offer you here on Patreon an ad free viewing experience, but I'll have to figure out how to do that for this early access sort of thing, and also, I hope you never NEVER feel bad about skipping ads on my videos, because you're the ones really helping me to keep doing what I'm doing for the channel, not those big emotionless advertisers!

Stay safe and keep well, I'll be back soon with our podcast and more sewing ❤

Love this so much I drafted a pattern. Needless to say I’m still futzing with it. You make it seem so easy! So, when I get frustrated I just watch you again. Very inspirational!

Wow, such a smooth aesthetically pleasing video! Concise and clear, well produced! Not that I don't love your rambling videos, I must confess, I enjoy listening to people ramble on hour long videos while I'm doing my own projects and do hope you will continue to do some rambling videos, but for learning how to do something, this was probably more conducive to learning :D BTW, love the skirt and all the outfits you made with it! Beautiful.

Thank you Ingrid! Goodness knows my rambling can't be cured ;)

The combination with the matching blouse is just what we need in this crazy year!

Thank you Tina!

Definitely don't think the double linen ensemble was too much at all- seems like a fantastic holiday outfit to me. In fact, I may try to replicate the skirt for holiday purposes myself. :) Thank you so much for the inspiration and instruction!

Thank you Rachel! Might as well still get dressed up for a holiday at home!

It is a perfect holiday outfit! You could easily make it jolly with jewelry and accessories! Never say too much! I don’t believe in it. Your makeup is swoon!

Thank you Thea! Just add a festive brooch indeed :)

So happy to "see" you again, after the seemingly never-ending madness of last week. And I had been looking forward to this tutorial, too! Like the other commenters above, I didn't see any ads in this video and don't remember having seen an ad during the previous preview video on Patreon, either. <3

T
The Closet Historian · November 22, 2020

Thank you Lacey! I am indeed relieved to hear the ads didn't seem to have been running on an unlisted video wahoo!

I love it! I dislike wearing dresses so matching top and skirts are a good idea. I didn't see any ads either. Will definitely have a go at the draped skirt situation :)

Thank you Beverley! I'm glad to hear the ad's were behaving :)

Love the ensemble and definitely not too much. Really lovely! Thank you for sharing this with us. I always learn something new from your videos. Take care. Sending best wishes and good vibes from Down Under <3

Thank you Rhonda! I'd send you some good vibes from up here in the US down....but you wouldn't want them due to potential contagion as Aus is safe and the US is...not!

Great outfit at the end! Definitely not “too much”

I didn't get an ad either. I was so surprised to hear that Fabric Mart was owned by Amazon!!! I won't be buying from them again either. I'd rather pay more and help an independent than give Jeff Bezos more money. I thought FM was an independent and that is why I bought from them. Thank you for sharing that with us. The skirt came out beautifully and I don't think it is over the top at all. I still don't understand how the back of the skirt matches up with the flare. I will have to watch that over and over!!! LOL. I also think your eye makeup blended very well with the top you were wearing in the beginning and at the end. You looked so pretty. Thank you so much!

Thank you Peggy! It's Fabric.com that is owned by Amazon, I'm not sure about Fabric Mart. I did indeed have fun trying to match my eyeshadow to the iridescent fabric ;)

I didn't see any ads. This was a spectacular project. I love the metallic fabric. And the whole idea of matching separates that look like a dress is right up my alley. They look amazing together.

Thank you Tina!

Hey Bianca! I haven't fully watched the video through yet, but I haven't encountered ads so far. Usually, there's a little yellow dot on the scroll bar to indicate an upcoming ad, and I don't see any. But maybe that's just for me. Either way, it doesn't matter much to me as I'm so used to ads, anyway. Your videos are so soothing and comforting to watch, and they're one of the few things getting me through all the stress lately. So they're more than worth a few ads, regardless. Thank you for such wonderful and beautiful content. <3

Thank you Mindy! I'm glad to hear it seems they don't pop up on unlisted videos!

Debra Davis · November 11, 2020

Hi, Bianca! I have YouTube plus, so I don't get ads. But, tell me one thing, how is it that you get more beautiful in each video? I'm looking more like Hocus Pocus these days! 🤣😂 Thank you for uploading great content.🤗

The Closet Historian · November 22, 2020

Thank you Debra! The real key is I only have to get put together a few days each month ;)
