How I Work With Striped Fabrics // Making a Striped Halloween Dress

Hello everyone! Sorry this is going up so late tonight, but I am so glad I managed to get this dress done! Now I really must get back to 1880's dilemmas, but I'll see you all again soon...

Thank you! That video was really useful. Watching somebody who knows what they’re doing work is always informative, and your explanations make a lot of sense to me. And I appreciated you showing your other striped dresses so that we can see how different types of darts interact with the stripes. Now I’m more confident about my striped blouse plans. I’m going to start with some herringbone twill fabric first though, so that I can practice matching “stripes” when they won’t really show up like that on the finished product.

Thank you Tina! My striped dresses are all quite similar, but it's like I remembered things on some and did odd things on others, so I wanted to illustrate the differences 😅

I think you are a magician. It all looked like magic to me! I am spoiled for regular stripes- I want chevrons!

Thanks Thea! Pattern matching does indeed fell a little like wizardry!

Wow! I've shied away from stripes because...well, you know, stripes(!!) But now I think I just might give it a go. This dress is lovely! Thank you for sharing this with us. I know how busy you are and this was very kind of you. I'm excited about your Victorian project and am looking forward to the next instalment. Firstly though, looking after you is priority. Sending good vibes and best wishes to you from Down Under <3

Thank you Rhonda! ❤ I did take a bit of time to catch my balance at least yesterday after getting the bodice video up, but now it's back into Victorian sewing!
