Adding a Yoke and Working with Plaid Fabrics

I realized while editing this that my sleeves match up with the stripes of the plaid on the front and back pretty dang close too...which I didn't even do on purpose (lazy of me) and yet? Somehow this plaid just wanted to work I guess!

Today I'm making a simple yoke accented dress in a cotton plaid fabric from my stash. A dress ready for wandering a pumpkin patch perhaps. I haven't carved a pumpkin in a decade, maybe longer, should I fix that this year?

Thanks so much for this video. I’ve been pinning so many vintage dresses with yokes lately. I don’t have a pattern....and now I won’t need one😁

I’m in Switzerland. I am only going out fir two things - walk in the nature reserve that is almost upon our doorstep, or today fir a medical appointment. That makes me anxious because I end up in a room full of ill people

Love the video. Can I make an appeal. It’s pronounced “ played.” I’m not a rampant Scottish nationalist but Olaf is like nails on a chalk board

Pretty! Curves are convex and concave ☺️ And I enjoyed the crow sounds, not sure if the were real but I appreciated them immensely

Thank you Clara! The birds were forest nature sounds I added indeed, even I miss going outside ha! I do wonder if there is a word too for almost the size of a curve though, like not the inside versus outside of a curve, but almost like an acute/obtuse situation that describes the severity of the bowing of it all? I'm not making any sense! I could just look it up but ehhhh geometry

I LOVE PLAID. Carve a pumpkin! I love those dumb Pumpkin Masters kits because they make me feel super artsy.

I am kinda considering a pumpkin carving Q&A maybe? Though I totally don't actually have time to do that with all the sewing I have to do 😅

Thank you Bianca! Yes, plaids do suit you! This tutorial answered a lot of questions I was trying to figure out this week wth a project I'm working on. How did you know I needed this right now? Wow! Take care of yourself and yours. Sending you best wishes from Down Under <3

Thank you Rhonda! It's fully plaid season here now all right, and I'm pleased it's arrived even if I don't get to leave my house ha!

Lovely dress and plaids suit you really well. I thought so last year when you were adding some thrifted plaid shirts to your wardrobe. This just reconfirms it.

So pretty! I admire that the stripes matched up well too. Last year, for Christmas, I made a tartan plaid heavy cotton skirt. I was listening to the radio on my fav rock station while sewing. The outcome was that the sides did not match up stripe wise! LOL! But I had a good time sewing it and Christmas was great! Stay safe and healthy!

Thank you Peggy! Having a good time while sewing is certainly just as important as stripe placement, so all's well that was a fun time really.

Nicely done project! Clappers are pricey...recently, I've been using a cork-backed steel ruler for a clapper. It gets the job done, but I really want a wood one.

They can be! Especially when saving to get some lace instead ;) Lace still sounds more fun than a clapper to me I'm afraid ha
