Materials Unboxing and Chat
Hello everyone! I hope you are all safe and doing okay. I received a lot of the materials for my next big project in the mail this last week, so I wanted to unbox them with all of you since you are the ones making this project possible. Thank you so much for your support ❤

I have both Kai and Ginger scissors and they’re very good
Hi Bianca, I just found a 1870's green (with black markings) gown at The Met (while browsing, as you do) which may be helpful. It shows many different angles of the dress as well as close up of the fabric (silk), the trim and the buttons. I hope I succeed in pasting the link here. If not, here is the Accession Number:1980.409.1a–c for The Met online (metmuseum.org) . I hope this helps.
That green material is just beautiful. I’m so looking forward to the creative juiciness flowing. If not now then when!!!!? 2020 green poison bottle dress to chase the virus blues away! Exciting! Xxx
The blues are strong, so a stronger green is needed indeed!
As soon as there is real breathable air in Seattle I will send the bag to you. I hope you can find creative things to do with them!
Thank you so much Thea! ❤
wow What a job ahead of you. Exciting videos ahead.
I'm so excited for this project! It is my dream to make a green silk 1840s/1850s gown one day. Maybe in a few years. Once I've replaced my purchased corset (which doesn't fit very well anymore) with one that I've made myself (eek!). Yay!
I can't believe I didn't save my old corset pattern! I'll have to make a new 1880's one sometime
I can't wait to see how this whole project turns out! It is gonna be epic! <3
Thank you Linnea!
1) Your eyeshadow is crazy gorgeous in this video. I mean is usually perfect, but this one... omg, so pretty 😍 2) I said it to you on Instagram and will say here once again - I am honestly so excited to see you making this gown. Gothic victorian bustle of dreams is THE project for 2020. Especially as I can’t sew anything right now so it’s even nicer to see you fulfilling one of your dream projects ❤️ 3) This green taffeta is to die for 😮
Thank you Magda! It's just a shame I can't wear epic sparkly green eyeshadow with the Victorian gown...well I could, but the accuracy police would have a field day with me then ha!
Can’t wait to see this project come together!! The silk is gorgeous!!
Thank you Kelly!
So excited for your Victorian Gothic project. You're gonna floor us! The green silk taffeta is sumptuous. Please name the dress (her) when you are finished. (Worth has the Peacock dress) Bianca has the "........." dress.
Thank you Victoria! I think it's the Poison Bottle dress, since it's the color of a poison bottle glass ;)
Oh I too can't wait!!!!! This is so exciting!! I am so happy that you are fulfilling a dream! Can't tell you just how happy I am for you. Scary? Yes! Challenging? Yes! Fun? Oh yeah!!!!! Sending best wishes to you and yours from Down Under <3
Thank you Rhonda!
If this has been your dream since you were younger, then go for it all the way! How many people get to live out a dream they have had for so many years? Who cares if it is 2020. This may give you a great memory from an otherwise crappy year. You can check Burnley & Trowbridge online to see if they have black twill tape. I get alot of my tapes from them. I am checking all over for tartan plaid taffeta for a skirt for Christmas. That is my dream! Good luck on the project and I can't wait to see it! Hugs!
Thank you Peggy! Plaid taffetas in good holiday tones seem strangely hard to find. I was thinking a tartan underskirt for this gown I'm making and a matching hat would work quite well with the emerald green, so I have been looking myself as well!
I had a friend who used to say "it's not selling out it's buying in" that being said this is your job, to make content, so make whatever content you want to make. I for one cannot wait to see what you come up with. Oh and if those siscors don't work out for you I got like a fifteen dollar pair off amazon from LIVINGO which have held up better than my gingher (which are basically over priced fiskers anyway)
Thank you! I'm certainly excited to get started!
EXCITED SQUEEEEEEELLLLLSSSS.......oh yes I am totally excited to follow the adventures and too see your dream frock...best news this week... I am totally waiting with baited breath...have fun, absolutely enjoy the moment, this is something truly amazing and special that you are making...xxxxxxxx
Thank you Raelene!
I am so excited for this project! If the scissors you have that need sharpened are Gingher, you can send them away to be sharpened by the manufacturer. I had to do this once after I took them to someone that didn't really know what they were doing. It took about two months from mailbox to mailbox but they came back to me like new! The last thing I need to know is what lipstick that is. It's a gothic dream 🖤
I'm actually not sure what brand my other scissors are, they have a little bull on the hinge/join area so I could probably look it up. The lipstick is a shade called Rooch from Colourpop!
I never thought I would forward to a project more than your Blade Runner lookbook but I’m actually more excited about this one. I can’t wait to see the finished project.
Thank you! I'm itching to get started for sure!
I just bought all the rainbow Tula Pink shears and seam ripper too! Looove them! Weren’t the amazing green Victorian fabrics arsenic dyes? Maybe that could be why there aren’t extant garments from the times? Just a thought. I know you hate real beetles, but you know those amazing green oil slick iridescent beetle shells they used on garments? I have a decent sized bag of them. I always wanted to use them, but I don’t wear green. They could be yours. They are pre-drilled to sew or make jewelry. And may I just say how excited I am about this garment? Plus a huge THANK YOU for showing close up details of all the materials you purchased!!! Gorgeous ribbons!
Oh goodness! Can't lie...I would love those beetle wing casings! If you can part from them I'm sure I could come up with something fun. I think you must be right that they didn't save the green dresses because they were poisonous, it would be a fair reason to bury them in the yard instead indeed 😅
Ha! When you mentioned Victorian Goth, I immediately began mentally flashing scenes from "Interview with the Vampire" (especially the French underground ones) and then you flashed a still from the movie. I cannot wait for this venture!
Thanks Rob! Decadent vampire is definitely the mood I'm going for with this project!
