Making A Blue Marble Bodice 🧵

And yes, you can get another sneak peek at the faux paneling on my foyer walls in this reveal footage 😅 I've been chipping away at the foyer painting but it has been slooow going finding time to finish it all!

This month I've pulled out another of my fancy fabrics in my ongoing effort to source from my stash this year. I still have a bit more of this blue and gold jacquard left too, so I hope to make a skirt and a partlet next month to be able to mix and match them with this bodice in the future. This is such a gorgeous fabric, I only wish it came in even more color combinations...but of course I would!

My partner was a drummer in the 80s in Hollywood and is one of the neatest people I've ever met. We've been together for over 15 years and decided to get married. I want to wear something really amazing that is fun. It's just going to be us, no wedding, just married, paperwork required. Anyone have ideas, I'm all ears and eyes lol

Comment #2. Why should you make "day wear" that you don't like and would never wear? That would be dumb and a waste of your time and fabric. You're sewing for you. You make what you want, which is how it should be. The algorithm can go to... Also, in keeping with my weirdness, I talk to you while watching your vids...out loud 🔊 . I am weird and proud of it!!

I will never understand how things work on YouTube/Patreon & why video do/don't do well. Your videos are MINT!! GREAT!! INFORMATIVE!! FUN!! I wish they'd go by comments. You would be 100 places above #1.

Having recently developed an allergy to the casein in dairy, I am so lucky to have found a vegan bakery just down the street. If you do ever go fully vegan, I can recommend Oatsome brand organic oat milk as a delicious coffee creamer, and Earth Balance plant butter. Now my quest is to find a good mozzarella substitute so that I can make pizza again!

Another gorgeous make! If I could request a video of you, it would be a drafting dangerous…pants edition. What could be more fun? The interns could probably help 🐈🐈‍⬛

About your kitty interns - since they've been so helpful, maybe it's time to treat them to a trip to a fancy cat restaurant, like these three kitties: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyOD4NQrWfE

On the topic of making day wear, someone who thinks long enough can use your videos though. If I made this out of something like quilting cotton? Boom, day wear. I ran into this when I was getting into Victorian/Edwardian underthings. Everyone on YouTube is using silk, but me and my pioneer ancestors would never be able to afford that, so I began looking into what was low budget at the time. But they use the same patterns....

The design on the back is really nifty and I also like what you have on in the intro! The precious interactions with Ollie brought a tear to my eye. 💚

While I enjoy the home demo/reno episodes I’m here for the drafting especially for the 30’s and 40’s things. A suggestion for drafting would be the dress you are wearing. It appears to be a dress as one ant really see below the hip line. That of course would include the vertical pockets. I enjoy all the videos regardless.

I think all marmalade/orange cats can eat, and never seem full. Daughter's cat is the same, and they restrict the volume of food in his dish. He does not like it either. Lovely video, and garment

Love how this jacket turned out. I am obsessed with the criss-cross back.❤️ Maybe some day I will have the confidence to try something like that. 😄

Wonderful video and garment! Unique and flattering and eye catching. The background music you chose was so soothing for such finicky work. Do you feel comfortable sharing what it is? Perfect to turn on when you get frustrated or stuck. Love your work and commentary. Thank you

Marie Schoeppel · February 28, 2026

Everything you make fits like a glove! Love the fabric of this jacket! Also, when I heard about another round of snow in the northeast, I immediately thought of you and the hole in your ceiling, sending good thoughts your way that it can be repaired soon! Would love to see you make another dressing gown, one with bell sleeves and deep ruffles at the cuffs.

T
The Closet Historian · February 28, 2026

Thank you Marie! That dressing gown idea sounds fun! Luckily no leaking this round, thank goodness 😩❄

I love watching your videos. One reason I love your channel is that you are so clearly doing what you want to do and making what you want to make! It is super inspiring even if the things you make are different than what I would/am able to make myself. Sometimes I struggle in my work with feeling like everything I do must be 'educational' because that is an easy marker of its 'worth'... but what you do is so wonderful and inspiring and creatively educational even when you aren't specifically sharing a tutorial. Thank you for this video and good luck with your house!

T
The Closet Historian · February 28, 2026

Thank you so much Erica! Reached right into my exact worries there, I struggle with providing enough "worth" all the time whew 😅❤

I really like the contrast of the metallic organza trim. I'm trying to wrap my brain around decorating my clothes. I make almost everything I wear and I want to have decorated clothes, I just can't seem to do it. But that looks doable. When it warms up a bit, would you show us a flutter sleeve, please?

T
The Closet Historian · February 28, 2026

Thank you Julie! I can certainly add flutter sleeves onto the schedule!

Anita Hebert · February 27, 2026

Looking at the etsy site, the fabric looks like Damascus or Japanese folded steel.

T
The Closet Historian · February 28, 2026

The brown and gray colorway looks especially like this and I loove it 🤩

G
Grogu · February 27, 2026

The sleeve pattern shape reminds me of Monty Moles from Super Mario 😁. The final result looks like little baskets on your shoulders. Lovely fabric and beautiful end garment

T
The Closet Historian · February 28, 2026

Thank you!!

L
Lone Andersen · February 27, 2026

It’s absolutely gorgeous. I love the details in the back, and the trim around the back and neckline, is just the dot over the i ❤️

T
The Closet Historian · February 28, 2026

Thank you! My mind melted a bit trying to do the back, but at least it came out fun 😂

Ruby Child · February 27, 2026

I'm always happy to watch a Bianca design come to life. Who the hell wants day wear when you can have film noir sophistication?

T
The Closet Historian · February 28, 2026

Thank you! Also, exacccctly ✨

Sarah Wilson · February 27, 2026

Gorgeous! I also struggle with doing things I'm not interested in, please continue to do what you want to do! It's delightful to watch these beautiful creations. Also, there's no reason why someone like me, with essentially no need for evening wear, couldn't make something like this in a daytime appropriate fabric. Of course I'm not at this skill level, I'm still working on finalizing my bodice block and my first planned project once that's done is your wrap back top in linen. Keep doing you, I watch every video even though I might only ever make one or two pieces as fancy as this.

T
The Closet Historian · March 1, 2026

Thank you Sarah! The wrap back top is a great choice, I have made nearly a dozen of them now ✨

L
Lynne · February 27, 2026

Oh my goodness!! I LOVED this video! The back of your jacket is amazing, and I loved seeing your thought process. I also love the triangley bits at the shoulders. They look intentional and show off the silver piping. Re drafting ideas - I'd love to see your version of The Vampire's Wife Falconetti or Villianelle dresses. (I know there are loads of versions out there, and I'm late to the party!). Loving your work, and your staff make me laugh out loud. Lynne

T
The Closet Historian · March 1, 2026

Thank you Lynne! Those dresses were sooo popular! They are super simple so definitely something I could demo in the future ✨

C
Catherine Rowley-Williams · February 27, 2026

I'm a fan of flat piping; use pre-made satin bias tape between the lining and facing of a coat for example, finding something that contrasts nicely with both :)

Carmen Grima · February 27, 2026

I absolutely loved this top. I have missed you sewing and drafting, can’t wait to see the skirt. Ps I love your home renovations as well.

T

Thank you Carmen!

Amy Tegethoff · February 27, 2026

I am always blown away by the beautiful pieces you make! I can't wait for the skirt and embellished piece as well!

Thank you Amy! I'm happy to have finally put this fabric to use ✨

Debra S. Apostol · February 27, 2026

As usual … another stunning addition! I swear, the feline inspectors never fail to bring a smile to my face … personally I’d have a VERY hard time not kissing them all the time!!

T
The Closet Historian · March 1, 2026

Thank you Debra! I promise they get many kisses and cuddles, usually extra in an attempt to annoy them enough they will give me a break, but it's like they can see right through me somehow 😅

E
Elisabeth · February 27, 2026

I enjoyed seeing how you played around with this design and seeing how you fixed some of the issues you had with it. It’s a really fun design and I think the piping helps emphasize the diagonal lines in the back without overpowering them. My god what have you done to me giving the link to that Etsy shop??? I do not need more fabric. I don’t even truly want more fabric, but they’re all so pretty!

T
The Closet Historian · March 1, 2026

Thank you Elizabeth! Yeah the fabric sellers on Etsy have some delicious things 😅✨
