It's been a hot minute since the last time this Cap'n showed up on the deck! And let me tell you: I MISS YOU SO MUCH!!!
I would like to to share with you what's going on behind the scenes, what has been happening throughout this whole year and what are the plans ahead; because I feel you deserve to know everything around this kinky and wonderful ship!!
CptPopcorn is on pause until January 2025 ⚒️
For about two months now Patreon has been paused so this Cap'n of yours could focus solely on Soulgasm development, fixing issues that were present since the very beginning and developing the grand-view of the whole project.
The plan was to come back to CptPopcorn in full force by this month (December 2024) but me being me, I needed to make Soulgasm and ThatWasHot as a whole work, not only for myself, but mostly for the team that is working so hard on it!
Nevertheless, January 2025 shall be our month, and by the looks of it: our year altogether!!
But, as you can see-- there are quite a few pieces in the making, and since this ship is full of good boiz, Santa might come early!! 🙈🙈🙈

Plans Ahead! 😍
You know yer Cap'n, me hearties: I would rather close a project than diminish its quality. Soulgasm is big, VERY BIG, and as such, it requires a big team of professionals working behind. Such a team is expensive, and it yet has to make sense financially (Let's just say it is in the red numbers so far and I would veeery gladly change that already).
This is why, I am exploring new smaller projects that can be updated in a monthly basis, but that are still of yer interest! And these projects are yet to be officially announced, but I am working on one of them as we speak!

What happened in 2024?? 😓
You might have noticed, my sailors, that 2024 was slower and different than the first couple of years of CptPopcorn, and that's because of a few reasons:
1. Relying on the wrong people for Soulgasm's development.
Before getting started with Soulgasm I believed it wouldn't be an easy task, but at least that I could rely on the people we picked for its creation. Turned out to be the wrong approach and choice. And as a consequence this Cap'n had to learn new skills and adapt to the role of boss, manager, game designer, creative designer and narrative designer. Great skills to have, but definitely not for one single human being.
2. Our rigger of years decided to leave in a whim, leaving a terrible gap in his place.
About a year ago our rigger decided it was time to stop rigging, and that's perfectly fine. Unfortunately the void that created in the production of animations and scenes for both CptPopcorn and Sgsm was terrible. We tried six different riggers, and unfortunately none managed to deliver in time and form. But there is one rigger that might soon change all that 🙏
3. Severe burnout and depression.
As it turns out, decades of non-stop working since being a child, lack of rest and restless nights have a big consequence. Please don't be like me...
4. ...I became suicidal for a few months.
I don't feel comfortable speaking about this, mostly because many people know me as the happy butterfly captain I always strived to be. Nevertheless, I almost took my own life on three occasions last summer. This was a call to action for me, to which I made the decision to go to therapy, which turned out to be the best decision of my life.
If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, please don't isolate yourself. Try sharing your emotions and thoughts with trust-worthy people in your surroundings and do your very best to get out of that state as soon as possible. Being alive is a gift, and we can turn our lives downside up, left to right and overall in the direction we want, and I promise you: It is worth it, it gets better.

So happy you are here with us captain! It has always been a joy and pleasure watching you create and I hope you can take all the rest you need now and in the future! Artist often get burned out so quickly as external and internal demands mount so intensely. But never forget, you have a solid footing here and those who have been in that space understand that taking breaks, adjusting to new work flows, adapting to new changes in the team/life will occur and that's okay! Taking care of yourself can truly be one of the hardest things to do, but it is so so important. I'm happy to hear that therapy is going well! As a therapist myself, I'm a bit biased but I really do find it so valuable to utilize if you have the means and would encourage anyone having a tough time to give it a try if you can! Finding a good fit can be a bit of a headache for sure but can really make a big difference. I'm looking forward to January and can't wait to see what you and the team have cooking up! ♥️

Stay centered. It is easy to fall prey to dark thoughts, especially in an online focused environment.
Take care of yourself as prio number 1 Cap. We will always be here when you get back.
I'm glad you're in a better place now, I'd rather have to wait longer to see updates that for you to push yourself beyond a point you can healthily maintain
It’s good that you’re in therapy now and it’s working out for you! I’ve been in the same place five years ago and it took me a while to make this first step towards recovery, and I’m glad I did. And as the one who walked this path before- I’m glad you are in it now and I believe in you, with all my heart. Please take care of yourself and just let us know if we can be of any help for you!

As someone who has had depression issues, I hope you get good therapy. And always remember, surviving for spite’s sake is perfectly viable. ;)
So happy to hear you got help and things are better now. The world would be worse off without you. It might feel too personal, but you can always confide in us when things are tough.

l am so happy that you went to therapy!! Like I always tell you, please take care of yourself! We will support you through thick and thin. Dont feel too bad to take a break. You took breaks to deal with your physical health, so dont feel bad when you have to take a mental health break as well
