Deep in the Swamplands, travelers have begun disappearing near an old crossing known as Hangman’s Bridge. A specialist Church of Stars vampire-hunting expedition followed the trail and vanished soon after, leaving behind scattered equipment, abandoned camps, and signs that a much larger operation is underway.

The adventurers follow the hunters’ route and discover Bloodwatch, a rogue vampire faction led by Valeria Draal and her husband Severin. Bloodwatch is harvesting victims, preparing their blood through ritual magic, and feeding that power into the ancient Boiling Blood Scepter. Reaching Valeria means dismantling the faction’s ritual network, breaking Severin’s Blood Wards, recovering the lost weapons of the Church hunters, and surviving a final ritual already close to completion.

Blood Runs Deep is a 5th edition vampire adventure built around ritual disruption, objective-based encounters, faction mechanics, and escalating boss fights. The adventure begins at Hangman’s Bridge, where the party discovers how Bloodwatch gathers and prepares blood before following the faction deeper into the Swamplands.

The Blood Ritual Activity track records how much power Bloodwatch successfully feeds into its network, allowing the party’s successes and failures to influence later encounters. Act 2 turns the Bloodwatch camp into an active assault, where three Blood Wards must be destroyed before Severin Draal can be confronted. The final act culminates in a three-phase battle against Valeria Draal, where the Ritual Pentagram, Blood Portals, ritual surges, dangerous drops, and crimson mist transform the battlefield as the fight escalates.

Throughout the adventure, the party can recover five unique magic items tied directly to the story, including the Bolt of Dawnbreak, Cross of Kilos, Redmire Razors, Sunblight Gavel, and Boiling Blood Scepter.
