Main Vid: Autism Challenges No One Talks About (Ad-free)
Howdy! This is the beta version of "Autism Challenges that No One Talks About" 🙂 Thank you for supporting me in making it. Definitely a vid that I called upon a few personal things to make 😄 I'll probably add 1-2 more subjects to the final version such as "Autistic burnout" and "odd walking." Let me know if you have any feedback 🙂

A lot of this really resonated with me, especially not being able to get my words out even when I mentally rehearse what I want to say. Pretty sure I have a weird walk too. I honestly didn't know about the clumsiness and it totally makes sense now why I have always had this issue. There are a few things that were not in your video that I wasn't sure if they were autistic traits or not: Face blindness: it takes me a ridiculously long amount of time to remember faces and the names associated with them. Also if I haven't seen people in a long time, I tend to forget how they look, even if they can still easily remember me. The other is I physically wasn't able to lie until I was around 9 or 10 (ironic, considering my family seemed to think I was a pathological liar). I can do it now, but I find it weird I couldn't back then.
Oh I totally get these. Face blindness is absolutely a challenge I didn't go into. But I've experienced it too! I am really bad at lying as well and always have been honestly. It's something I wasn't sure happened to many other autistic person but I relate to that too. Really good choices!
Today I learned that my inability to get certain foods down may be related to my autism. I always love how much care and research go into your videos!
It still amazes me how much ADHD and Autism have in common. Digestive problems, not so much.
I found in a study that 50-70% of people with Autism also have ADHD. Isn't that wild? I'm going to mention it in an extra bit in the final vid
"Word retrieval" Oh that is definitely me, although I phrase it as being better speaking when something is scripted than not scripted
I still think Mr. Krabs referring to SpongeBob as immature in the first movie was a BS excuse, but that's just me
I'm 30 (almost 31) and i can't get enough of my plushy's and figurines 💕, screw society 😎. The caretakers from my grouphome always love seeing my apartment when they come over to see how i'm doing, some even say hello and/or wish them goodbye😊.
Never too old for whimsy. Take it from someone who's 28 and brings little emotional support bunnies to work.
I’m kind of surprised you haven’t talked about balancing and coordination issues.
This is something i most defendly stuggle with 😅.
I wanted to mention some of my struggles but I feel like the word difficulty sums up why I didn’t.
This was a great video. Never realized how stomach issues can correlate with autistic individuals.
Thanks for making this vid Josh. On the subject of odd walking - I have memories going back to when I was like 8 or 9 and walking through stores with checkerboard tile floors - I'd always try stepping only on the white tiles ("Floor Is Lava" style), at least when I wasn't waddling around with my odd gait caused partially by having 'flat feet' (needing inserts to raise my sole arch) and AS/HFA.
I'd always avoid walking on the cracks. And I totally get the flat foot issue. I still have very flat feet nowadays
Brilliant video Strider, very good idea 👍🏻
Im very excited to start watching this video strider!
