Early main vid - Biggest Anxiety / Depression Myths Busted (un-cut ad-free version)

Hiya boss 🙂 I'm glad I was finally able to discuss this important subject. I hope I was able debunk these myths okay in your eyes. Thanks for helping to make this video happen and let me know if you have any feedback 🙂 EDIT: I added this addendum to the "medication is permanent" myth https://youtu.be/dxOQnQLlSSY

I wish my mum could have seen this video, maybe then she wouldn't have treated my terrible anxiety issues as me just "attention seeking" and "being stupid".

I'm so sorry she would ever say something like that to you, Minimog. That's just silly and I'm glad that you know better. Make sure you talk to someone you trust other than your mum who takes mental health conditions seriously 🧡

The diabetes examples definitely hit home for me. Not complaining, just found it an amusing coincidence

Everything I just heard about that "medication is permanent" myth will inform my conversation with my therapist later today. The fact that I've been on medication for eight years, and I haven't seen an improvement with my depression, even with the maximum legally allowed dose, is concerning to me. I don't think it's JUST depression, I think it's something more underlying and chronic, and I'm just making the symptoms bearable instead of treating it. I wish I could see someone with actual authority to make a diagnosis, but I've been on the waitlist for a psychiatrist since 2022, and I don't see myself getting off of it any time soon.

If you're on the maximum dose with no improvement, it might be worth having a chat about an alternative medication. That being said, sometimes when medication makes the symptoms bearable, that's good too. There's no shame on being on a medication permanently. Particularly if it's making your life a little more pleasant

This reminded me of why I first had issues with South Park: the ADHD episode.

Breaks my heart how often South Park spread mis-information to a generation of people. I don't think I'll ever fully forgive myself for promoting that show so much in the past.
