IMPORTANT -How to evade the apple fee
Howdy everyone!
I have an announcement specifically for the Apple Patreon users.
I have literally just been made aware of this, but Apple is adding a surplus fee to users that pay for Patreon THROUGH the app https://news.patreon.com/articles/understanding-apple-requirements-for-patreon
This impacts all users that set up their subscriptions via the Patreon Apple App Store app (not just if you purchase the subscription via Apple Pay).
If you go to the website, you'll notice there is no change in the price.
My recommendation for those looking to avoid this fee… ( cause why would you wanna pay extra when you dont need to haha ) Is to access the Patreon via the website, (the link is attached) and resubscribe using the webpage or a browser, NOT THE APPLE APP!
Accessing content using the app still works fine, but if your subscription is made on the app, it will add the additional fee.
Just to clarify, I promise this is not me raising the price of the membership. This is an avoidable FEE that goes to APPLE. If there were ever any changes to the membership prices on my side, there would be announcements and explanations, and it wouldn't be done silently..

Yeah this affects a lot of other apps too just so everyone knows. Amazon, of all companies, doesn’t even allow ebook purchases in-app to avoid the fee.

i agree especially since the last post was a month ago! i know toni is busy and is probably doing the best she can but it feels like i paid a month for "nothing" it’s a little frustrating but understandable! but i personally don’t know if it’s worth it for me anymore

When I click on subscription I see 3.50 + 0.10 for TVA (which I think was the right price from the start) but then I read that I'll pay 4.20 EACH MONTH just bellow the payement - for context I'm on a non-apple pc and idk what I'm doing wrong

I love how every time in the past where I publicl, said how bad apple is, that sworn users defend that capitalistic company who doesnt care about low-lifes wih literally their life. And yet we see pretty much every day hard evidence on how bad they are. They still buy overprieced hard and software just to pay ever more on ADDITIONAL apps like Patreon THAT THEY DONT EVEN OWN

I just realized- i have my patreon on my cashapp card and it doesnt ever have money in it😭😂 so ill probably find o it when it bounces back eventually

Yes, just if you set up the subscription on an Apple device it will charge their market fee
before i canceled my subscription, it showed me cheaper price on the website than in the app, but after i canceled, the price went up and now is the same as in the app :/ does anyone know how much is it without the fee?

Also FYI, You have to wait till your subscription is about to expire, cancel it, THEN resub on the website.

I think the best thing to do is wait until your subscription is about to expire, then cancel it, and then resub so you don’t have to end up paying twice!
