Today was the last day....

I had a surreal feeling today as I walked out of my job for the last time. I think it could be described as part happiness, and part terror. I also said goodbye to a lot of people I've known for years. It was an akward conversation when people asked me where I was going. if I had just been moving to another job, it would have been simple. But when I told people I was going to be making youtube videos, they looked at me real funny. So I had to repeat the explanation for how all that works a few dozen times.

I would also like to mention that I do have the CD soundtracks available now. I added it as a reward to anyone who pledges $10 or more. However, if anyone wants one that has already been pledging that much, just let me know with a private message and your address and I will ship you one. But if it isn't something you really want, then I would ask that you not request it because it does cost me about $7 every time I ship one out (due to shipping and royalties) so it eats into the money you've donated in the first place. It is also for sale on my website to everyone else for $12 + $3 shipping. I will be mentioning this on facebook and eventually youtube. But I'd rather give the checkout system more testing with low volume sales before I open the floodgates by telling the wider audience.

I decided I really like your channel. I likewise grew up with a lot of these vintage machines. I am also more of a Mac person, my first Mac was a Plus. Somewhere along there I had a second Plus, but only one really worked, eventually both had bad analog boards. I wish I had kept one. Then I got a IIcx which I eventually sold on eBay. I've had many others. I currently have an Atari, several Commodores, and an original G3 Mac. I think supporting David is a worthwhile cause.

Hi David. I am donating over 10 dollars per month but I'd rather buy the CD from your website because it's another nice way I can support you. But they only ship to America (I'm in the UK). Have you plans to ship to the UK any time Soon? I'll happily pay whatever the shipping costs are.

As of this morning, you should be able to buy from the website from any country.

Sounds very similar to the feelings Jeff Atwood had back in 2008, when Stack Overflow was but a twinkle in his eye... https://blog.codinghorror.com/choosing-your-own-adventure/ Good on you! Thanks for all your hard work over the years so far, you deserve all the success your future will bring.

Hi! Don't be scared, I'm sure that in a few months you'll be wondering why you haven't done it before.

Congrats to the big step! Have you considered selling the soundtrack digitally, e.g. via a Dropbox link? I cannot pledge $10 every month because I support a number of other creators and it would be too much in total if everyone got $10 (that's the subscription fatigue problem that will hit most of us at one time). To support you I can totally think of paying $12 one time for your music, but I don't need a physical copy.

Well, I have been looking into doing something like that. But the truth is, most of that music is already available online for free (at least to listen to) and so I feel kind of bad selling something you can already get. But some people like having a physical copy. So that's why I made that. Also, that was totally the idea that people could pledge $10 one month and then reduce the pledge the next month. Or you can buy it directly from my website.

I can imagine it was surreal. A risk for sure, but a calculated risk. You've got the right attitude and I know you will continue to be a success!

Amazing David! You'll have to change the video that plays on your Patreon landing page now ;) I guess some people will always keep asking you to make more videos irrelevant that you're now able to make a lot more.
