Breaking the rules
One of the rules I set for myself for the models I make here was "no assembly required". After some consideration I decided to break that rule for mounted units. I just figured that the only way to keep the printing supportless and make those hanging legs in stirrups is to break the rider model apart and print the bottom part upside-down. This also opens the possibility of modular models.
So here it is, a first two-part mounted knight, with a variant on foot. There is also a new version of a supportless horse dressed in a caparison, which should be easier to print in FDM than the original horse, because the caparison reinforces legs which for some of you were prone to snapping while printing.
Get them all in the repository, the pedestrian version is also on Thingiverse.
I'm going away with the kids for a few days now, see you back in August, devoted to the requests made by my oldest Patrons.

I can't find the folder for these, could you point me in the right direction?
should be in Older STLs/Mounted units/Older mounted models/
Would love to see more mounted figs done this way. I printed up several of these and print and assemble nicely. Would love to see some Saracen mounted figures.
Lances ? thanks :)
I don't mind doing some assembly as long as the parts are "support-free" :)
As long as we keep getting at least one support-less model per release Im cool with the occasional one with assembly required
I like your models because I can load up up my build plate and print several at once with no supports, and no assembly. Still, its always fun to try new things occasionally and modular figures could be pretty cool.
The assembled model looks great. Very easy assembly too...no "hanging" pieces. Gravity keeps it all together while the glue dries, which is a very nice feature. Excellent work...thank you!
