Wishlist Hex on Steam now!
Hex will be releasing as an early access game on Steam later this year or early next year. You can wishlist it now!
Why?
This is part of an effort to diversify. While a lot of people view running both a Patreon and an EA campaign for the same game as double-dipping, the reality is that adult games (and indeed, all adult content) on the Internet are constantly under threat of censorship and de-platforming. I think the smartest way I can fight this is by being on as many platforms as possible.
How will this work?
I plan to use Succubus Stories as a guide and basically do the same thing. When the game releases into EA on Steam, I will immediately make a few hundred Steam keys available through the Silver and Gold Edition pages on Itch for 4-6 weeks. On top of that, any patrons who spent more than the price of the game on Patreon before the game's release date can message me for a key if they miss that initial window. However, after this initial window, the Steam Edition of the game will not be available to Patrons. This is because Steam has strict rules about this, but also I think it's fair.
How will the Steam Edition stack up?
The Steam Edition will be most similar to the Silver Edition. It will receive early major updates compared to the Free Edition, but the updates may not be exactly at the same time as the Silver and Gold Editions for logistical reasons, and the minor updates will likely still end up being patron-only. The Silver and Gold Editions will still be the best way to play the game and keep up-to-date, and the Gold Edition in specific will still be the only version of the game with access to the offering box, and the Patreon will still be my preference for support and my focus overall.
How much will it cost?
While in EA, the game will probably be around $15. After its full release, probably around $20. These numbers are not set in stone.
Will the game have achievements?
Yes. At some point. They may or may not be in the initial EA release. But basically all the same stuff SS's Steam Edition has, Hex will have in its Steam Edition. I'll try to work on maybe figuring out cloud saves, too, but no promises.
Demo coming soon!
Hex will be part of Steam Next Fest, meaning I intend to release a Steam Demo very soon (as in, like tomorrow). However, it'll just be the current (upcoming) version of the game but you won't be able to head to Ranbol in the demo. Since most of you are already past that, it probably won't be a big deal to you.
Questions/concerns?
Nothing is set in stone, and as always, I have blind spots, so if there's something about this that rubs you the wrong way or you have other concerns, please let me know. My patrons are literally the most important factor in any decision I make, so if you feel like you don't like this idea or the direction, or you have suggestions, don't hold back.
I do listen and welcome feedback. If you don't want to publicly offer feedback, feel free to message me privately here or on Discord, too.
