Introducing a new BetterService: BetterCensorship
Good day everyone.
It is my pleasure to announce the newest addition to my BetterServices: BetterCensorship (https://bc.betterrepack.com/)!
BetterCensorship is a service intended to allowing content creators uploading their creations to the internet to hide information in their images.
This service can have different usecases:
- As a content creator, you may be able to provide images with censorship applied which you may allow your end users decensor at a later time, with or without a password. The password may be blank or provided openly, or if you're so inclined, offered on Patreon/Fanbox (or any similar service) for supporting users.
- You may simply want to send hidden messages to your friends, with this tool you can hide your meme and send it over to your friends. This has proven very popular during testing (>.<)
And probably a multitude more that I have yet to discover.
Let's hit up some bulletpoints, shall we?:
How does BetterCensorship work?
BetterCensorship is a webapp that allows an artist to load their picture and apply censorship, either mosaic, a overlay asset provided directly by BetterCensorship, or a overlay asset provided by the artist itself.
The Uncensored data will be encrypted and stored in the image as supplementary data. If the image is not password protected, the user just needs to load it into the website to remove censorship, and if it is password protected, they just need to apply the password while saving.
Privacy by design
All of this is performed without sending the picture to the server, so everything happens on the local computer, with the server having no idea what is being done, and that includes myself, thus protecting privacy by design.
There is also no trackers on the site, neither analytics nor ads.
Privacy protection is core to my beliefs, and as such this is super important for me.
If for some reason the addition of ads is needed in the future, I commit to announce that 1 month prior to implementation. The announcement should include info about what ad-network is being used and what the reasoning is for implementing ads.

Currently the following browsers are supported, more may work, but is not supported: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox
Desktop/Mobile version
Desktop and Mobile version of the app may be developed depending on how this app is received.
OK, cool, what's the price for this?
As per normal, no pricetag attached, neither in dollars, nor in personal data. This service, and any potential future Desktop or Mobile version, will be free to use, both for creators and users.
Are there plans for further work on this tool?
Yes, though it highly depends on if users are using it. There are features I want to implement, but I want to make sure that this is a proper place to place the resources available to me.
Wait, is this all Project Railgun is about?
Nope, this is but a smaller part of the overall project. It is philosophically aligned with Project Railgun. Stay tuned for more information about the core project as it matures \o/
