No one can kill a Jedi. Or?..
Hello there.
In the process of finalizing the game mechanics, I had one question, the answer to which only you, friends, can give me, since it depends on how interesting it will be for you to play :)
I am currently working on a save system. It is clear that without it, no modern game simply can not do. But the question is different - what will happen to the game as a result of the death of the main character?
I have two answers at the moment: the first is the classic loading of the last checkpoint or any of your saves. And the second is the full start of the game from scratch, as in games in the roguelike style.
Of course, you don’t really want to, having achieved considerable progress, start the game from the beginning. However, if you do not pretend to be a kamikaze, it is possible that for the whole game you will not even find yourself in a life-threatening situation. Well, again, Kara is a Jedi, and a Jedi is not so easy to kill. And therefore, the scenario with a full restart of the game after the death of the player also seems to me quite appropriate.
But, it's up to you to decide :) I will be glad to hear the opinions in the comments :)

One or two start from the beginnings and I would delete the game to never look back. Checkpoints allow players to know progress has been made instead of losing anything from a restart.
I voted for reload from save/check point, but I actually have a 3rd preference. If you've ever played adult modded Skyrim, there's a great mod called Defeat (and a few others like it) where if your character dies they're really just knocked down and then the attackers take advantage of them and leave them butt naked in the ditch. It's a lot more interesting than reloading ;)
Well, what if you don't die in battle, but fall off a cliff or fall under a speeder? :)
I think you should have the option for save points or not. Personally, If I have to start over and far into a game, that's it it is not worth rehashing everything to get to the point I died. I lose interest, as I am more of a casual player.
I'm thinking a lot about this at the moment.... I had a other idea: don't die.... just go down an loose some of your stuff like clothes money and such....(the enemy steals it) if you go down to often (like 3 times) you die and have to restart..... but if you find maybe a healing droid or medipacks or something wich could be used a limited ammount of times you could reset this count.....
And if you defeat the enemy who has your stuff you can get it back
I would have it so there is only one place you could save and that would be on the ship she uses. It would give one save location on each planet/ space station (if you do go on a space station) and that would be it.
Yes, I also tend to, so that the control points are only in the most important places, for example, when moving to another location, completing a mission or, of course, leaving the game.
How about this: don't use checkpoints or autosave at all but implement an manual saving system with an quicksave button so the player can choose if he wants to save or not
And I thought to do just the opposite :) I don't like the methods of passing the game, in which players save before each dangerous situation and, in case of failure, simply reboot and go on a different path. I want the player to go through most of the difficulties, prepared on his way. Moreover, for each player, events can develop in different ways, so that no one don't write a "quick guides" :)
I think it should be restart. Having a checkpoint is cheesy.
why not have her get raped if instead of dying lol thats how most porn games do it
That is precisely because the majority does this, I don’t want to do that :) There will be many other ways to rape Kara :)
I say classic restart because I am just a horny man who does not have time for that :( I was playing a game recently (v.01 of Luna in the Tavern) which forced me to start from the beginning over and over. It stopped me from playing >.<
It would be nice but also probably difficult to see a mechanic that revolves around the rogue like system, were with each defeat kara becomes more and more desperate, opening new paths that weren't previously available.
How, for example, does Kara remain alive, but lose all its equipment?
Maybe add both options (if possible) for those who want a normal mode and for those who want a hardcore mode. I think that would be the best way to do it.
