All's Quiet on the Everything
Hey folks, sorry about the quiet.
TLDR: Vet emergency, fun money gone. Things are back on the upswing now.
Anyway, let's catch up quick on what's been going on and why there's been less art in the last month and a half.
So mid-April, our dog (corgi, diabetic, 11 years old) picked up a UTI and was treated at our local vet. Now, the treatment for this is a standard antibiotic. No problem, right? It's typically prescribed with an anti-nausea pill because the antibiotic causes an upset stomach.
We forgot to specifically ask for that particular pill and the vet didn't think to prescribe it. This sets the stage for everything else.
Now, diabetic dogs need to eat. If they don't, their systems get out of wack really really fast. So fast forward about 7 days, she's been getting less and less interested in her food. This is a problem. And the vet is now closed for the weekend. After 2 days of refusing to eat, we take her to the Animal Urgent care. They run some tests, and immediately send us to the Emergency Hospital way out in Buffalo NY. (about 2 hours away from the Urgent Care, 2 hours away from home)
Anyway, she developed Pancreatitis and was in beginning stages of Diabetic Acid Ketosis. Long story short, waiting one more day would have been a death sentence.
Cut forward a few days and our pup is in full recovery, and racked up about 10k in hospital bills (between the Urgent care, the hospital and the regular vet)
We've got things under control, but the cash I spend on commissions has been going to pay off the vet. (The cash for everything else under "discretionary spending" has also been going to pay the vet, as is a chunk of cash from our emergency "oh shit" fund).
Note, I am not asking for assistance, not going to set up a gofundme, or anything else.
The good news, is that we've got it under control, the extra art should be starting (slowly) up over the summer and the dog survived.
So a happy ending to the story.

Hope the improving health streak continues.
Glad your pup is feeling better! Doggos more important than art anyway so no worries!
As an owner of elder doggies, you have my complete solidarity, hope your pup will be ok.
