Any Way to Make the Patreon Better?

I recently started subscribing because I think your horror reactions on YT are super-fun, so I hoped you had more of this on your patreon. Haven't found as much of this as I'd hoped though (TWD is too long 🙈) - so one suggestion is doing some horror tv shows, and now's the perfect time for this 😉 "The Haunting of Hill House" would be my no. 1 wish, but "The Outsider" (HBO mini series adapted from a Stephen King novel) is another favorite 🙌 Also - I have a feeling your lady-patrons (I'm one✌️) are rather outnumbered, at least judging from the kind of movies and tv shows you tend to react to 🤭 - so I'd also like to suggest (or more like wish, maybe) doing more tv shows that are a little less testosterone filled 🤭 There are so many great shows that I think both the ladies and gents here would love, especially several limited series - like two of my favorites; "Mare of Easttown" and "The Night Of".

I think I would have a better experience on Patreon without all the toxic comments and messages. People that are just trying to have a good time or give input are often berated for it 🤷

I would recommend watching a show called The Blacklist it’s on Amazon, with James spader playing Raymond reddington who’s the voice of Ultron in The Marvel universe, it’s one I think you would really enjoy watching as it’s super engaging and always has you on your toes, just a suggestion but the Patreon it self is a great experience already maybe start a tier where there are more episodes and reactions available for higher tiers

ALEX! You should put aside a day each week and call it "CATCH UP DAY". For example: Make every Thursday (Catch up Thursday) for movies and TV shows that you have to finish. Someone gave a huge list in the comments that you have yet to watch and this would be a great way to get thru them.

ALEX! You, like I and many MANY of us here on Patreon love Harry Potter. Alex, you should really think about doing the Harry Potter New Audio Book series. IT IS SO GOOOOD! Every character has their own voice actor, there are perfect sound effects for everything. It's AMAZING. You did music reactions before so it should be hard. What I suggest you at least try, is do Book 1 and see how it goes. If it doesn't work, you can stop. Maybe listen to 5 or 6 chapters at a time. I know the biggest change would be that you can't visually see anything but the Audio is SO good, it's like listening to a movie and I think your reactions would be GREAT!

The polls always end up voting for the same 3 type of movies over and over and it’d be nice if maybe you or your editors picked a few movies once or twice a month for us to vote on rather than us pick.

Maybe "tier 1" customers could have a brief sort of preview of what the collections include? I mean what is the content available for the diamond tier customers on patreon? Im curious so if I had some view into that I would be more inclined to pay more for access to the exclusive content 😊

Is it possible to add a way to search for just movies? Maybe by using #tags or putting Movie in the titles? Sometimes I have a few hours spare and want to search for something longer, but have to scroll past a load of shorter TV eps!

you are not almost “caught up to the others” you have a shit ton of good movies you reacted to in the past that haven’t seen the light of day anymore

First, I would like you to finish the movie series you start, like you did with Toy Story. You often start some movie franchises but don't finish the entire series. Second, don't remove movies just because other people offer them, because the same movies are often requested and they are usually some of the most well-known films. Have your own selection of movies. Third, it would be good to have more older comedies, because old comedies simply can't be beaten, such as The Naked Gun, Police Academy, and so on. Fourth, include older movies as well. Even though the CGI and effects aren't as advanced as in modern movies, they are still very interesting, especially movies from the 1990s. You could have a separate section, for example, “Movies from the 1980s” and “Movies from the 1990s.” Fifth, I would have two main categories: Movies and TV Series. When you enter one of those categories, there should be subcategories by genre or title. That would make it much easier to find what you want to watch.

I think that if you aren't into the shows you are watching then there's not a lot so I would suggest more film ones

More movies. And the series i know people vote for them but my opinion more "actual" series and not all anime or animated. I know many people do like them but this just my opinion.🙏🏻 And for a series maybe do ones with like 5 seasons top, becouse the walking dead has been on the schedule so long and taken a place for something else. And if you do react to longer series react to them more so they aren't on the schedule for over a year.

maybe a better way to do votes (like by genre and switch it up each time) cuz a lot of the time it's the same genre and it can make people who don't want to watch a lot of the same stuff (whether it's a month with 4 animated movies in a row or comedy or whatever it can just feel repetitive some of the time). Another thing I'd change is for really long shows like the walking dead I'd do it every 2 weeks alternating between another show (that way people who aren't interested in said long show can still get another one a different week that they may like)

Personally, movies instead of tv shows. When you start something that has 5+ seasons it alienates everyone who doesn’t want to watch it for months and months at a time. There’s nothing to interact with the community over, except to complain about what you’re putting out when the releases are all taken up with a 8+ season show.

Finishing movie series and shows. Mainly movies but if there is a show and only a couple seasons then finish the content please. Now if there are shows that are crazy long like Supernatural then it’s understandable to watch a few seasons and take breaks from it but you have watched all the Lord of the Rings-Hobbit movies and there are currently only 2 seasons of the Rings of Power so please watch that and be caught up before season 3 comes out

I think we should set up a system where Alex gets to pick out of the show options if he would prefer one over the other, but not always of course because then we’d probably never get what we want. 1 of 2 times Alex can override a vote, that seems fair to me. Also Alex should watch 500 days of summer it has the main character from new girl and Jospeh gordan leveitt from inception

It would be awesome if we could do one “on demand” movie a month or every 2 weeks. Some of these movies we can’t see until they get to streaming (End of Oak Street, Backrooms, etc).

Maybe a classic movie poll like movies from the '80s or early 90s, instead of having the Giant website with all of the movies. Top choice polls are great, ones with like five choices

Idk how easy or viable making the collections playlists start at the begining would be, because trying to watch a reaction with autoplay doesnt work. The begining of the series is at the bottom of playlist I have to physically hit the next episode or it plays the one I already watched & for some reason every series starts at the top not terrible but inconvenient especially if you have it playing on a second monitor

I don't know if this is possible, but a way to sort the collections would be awesome like by A to z or something. Also it would be cool if you had a section for all of the gaming streams, that way patrons are getting more bang for their buck. To be honest apart from what Isaac said " We need more Alex Choice Movies " Not much I can really think of other than maybe... making your bubble with you in it a little bit smaller maybe so its not covering so much of the movie but to be honest that doesnt really matter too much :) Or Maybe doing ultimate collection reactions for example with series say 1 whole season thats in one video all episodes from that season combined into 1 video and then with movies say like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord Of the Rings and Hobbit combined all of them into their own single reaction Just a thought :)

Like a few other comments, need more Alex picks. I'd also like to see Alex start a series or trilogy (example: Madagascar or Alien) and if you're into it, try to follow through with the sequels sooner than later (assuming you enjoyed the 1st one). We watched the 1st Fantastic Beasts a few years ago now but still waiting on the other 2, but of course rn its down to the polls but I think Alex should go ahead and plan movie sequels he wants to see with or without a vote. I hate to say this but I think shows like The Walking Dead are kinda killing the Patreon. They are just way too long. We could have watch 70 movies in that time which not only do I think is better for the YouTube (though I understand there is a backlog already) but also would keep the Patreon more interesting. I think there is room for long shows, just maybe we don’t have to watch every season?

I think we should have more movies per week tbh. Like Thursday and Friday movies or to spread it out more Tuesday and Friday. Also you need to finish your movie series especially The Mummy since there’s a fourth coming out. And National Treasure, Narnia, and A Quiet place, I heard there’s a part three coming also.

Anyone correct me if Alex has already done this, but I think a live session where patrons could call in and chat/ask questions with Alex would be great! I've seen this done on other reactor channels, kind of like a call in to a radio show. I think once in a while, like when he posts his Mental Health Checks, a live session where we can reach out and say what's on our minds would be a great time to have with the Gooch Maestro himself!

Only if you want to do it but maybe you could add Saturday to your content schedule and add there a movie 👀 because I personally would very like to watch a movie reaction from you at the weekend. I really like the idea of Alex dedicating at least 1 day a week to watch something he's been looking forward too! Would also love to see more seasonal events here! with October around the corner it'd be nice to see more spooky stuff during the season. Heck, even taking a break from our usual scheduled shows and doing a movie week more often would be dope!

I completely agree with the person that said you should watch a film a week of YOUR choice rather than a Patreon poll choice. No offence to the Patreon poll winners but there's a certain demographic of film/series that will always win and it means you miss out on more interesting and intelligent content that I think you'd really appreciate, enjoy and would challenge you intellectually, emotionally and maybe even spiritually.

One thing I’d really like to see is a format similar to what CineBinge does on their Patreon. They usually have two big shows going at the same time. They’ll watch one season of one show, then switch to the other show for a season, and then come back to the first one. I think that works really well because people don’t have to wait until an ENTIRE long series is finished before getting something different. For example, with The Walking Dead, you’re already on Season 10 and it’s basically been Walking Dead season after season. Personally, I’m not interested in that show, so it feels like there hasn’t been much content for me for quite a while, and I imagine some other patrons might feel the same way. I think it would be great if you did one season of The Walking Dead, then one season of another big show, then switched back again. That way fans of both shows regularly get something to look forward to, and there’s more variety on the Patreon overall.

I would love to have a collection of just “movies” that you upload. A few movies I couldn’t find in any collections. Like American psycho I couldn’t find until I searched it specifically and it makes me wonder how many other movies I’m missing simply because I have no way to browse movies unless they are in collections but even then I have to go through each genre. Sometimes I just want to browse all movies of yours to watch by finding an “all movies” collection instead of thinking which genre I should look through. But I definitely like having the different collections as well and it makes it easy for finding specific genres or series. Just sometimes the standalone movies slip through the cracks as far as being put into a collection. I don’t have the means to consistently sub here and it’s hard to find movies that have been posted during off months. It’s a pain in the butt to scroll through all uploads for months past so knowing there’s a place where every single movie is put into a collection would help my fomo lol

Maybe a good way to keep things fresh/switch it up is to do like a theme? Like this week an animated movie, next week comedy, then horror, then mystery, then drama, then action, etc. so it stays changing. That way we get to everything. Or something like that lol idk.

I've seen a comment asking for 2 movies per week and the comment wanting more Alex' Choice. Maybe you could combine both, that way you could do one poll and one choice movie and so make both factions happy. If you still wanna do 4 shows per week, Saturday could become second movie day, since you're almost finished with the Reuploads. Aside from that, please bring back the Movie Banners on the Videos. Personally please bring more content with the Misses and maybe Ozzy as well. I would love a health check from you And Sarah. Please consider putting ,,A Knight's Tale" in a Choice Poll. I would love to see the occasional "themed movie month." So, for example, a month where the movies you watch on Fridays during a given month has to follow a theme, such as "movies based on a true story" (just to pluck one out of my head). There are SO many movies in that theme alone that I think you'd enjoy--just to name a few, you have movies like Apollo 13 (which I think you've already watched), Deepwater Horizon, United 93, World Trade Center, The Lost Bus (I think this one's excellent and isn't getting much attention, but it's on Apple TV+, which is probably why), Captain Phillips, Sully, Dunkirk (I think you've watched this one too?), Darkest Hour, Dallas Buyers Club, The Monuments Men, Patriots Day,probably a billion others I can't even dredge up right now lol. You could even pick several themes, have people vote on the themes, then vote on movies that fall under those themes, like, I dunno, "teen comedies of the 90s and 00s" or a month where it's just Robin Williams movies, and folks can vote which of his movies they think you should watch. Stuff like that would be super fun, I think. Not saying to do this EVERY month, just maybe three or four times a year to stir things up a bit.

Also watch Blade Runner 2049. Its never going to win a poll but you are going to absolutely love the movie.

Occasionally have a contest or randomly select a patreon member, to select 4-5 movies to be put on a poll for everyone else to vote on. Also do this with your editors, as well as yourself selecting movies for a poll. That way we can get more variety as far as the movies we can vote on. Don't completely do away with the current system of nominating and voting on movies, but just dont completely rely on it either. Let us get some more variety going. I also enjoy getting surprise movie drops. Was great seeing a surprise reaction to The End Of Oak Street.

Your collections are not bad but I feel like you have a lot of overlapping labels that get confusing putting some movies in two places. Maybe splitting by producer (Disney, Marvel, Universal)? Not sure if that effective with older movies, but it’s my only thought so far.

Just that keeping the collections up to date is really useful for finding the things to watch/rewatch. The patreon browsing is a rough experience without those, and searching can be hit or miss. I wouldn't say no to having tags used to make searching a bit easier, too, but it's never been a big deal to me either way. Love what you do!

It would be really nice if the first few seasons of Clone Wars were in the re-uploaded format. I’ve found myself watching other streamers for the first couple seasons and plan on joining yours once the new format starts mid season 3. Just a thought!

FINISH YOUR MOVIE SERIES! for example. You watched national treasure but not the 2nd , you started the mummy and haven’t done the others. You didn’t do the final Narnia movie ! I know it’s by vote but once you start I feel you should finish . Thank you for everything you do brother 💪🏽❤️

Love everything you do. Occasionally the episodes get out of order for some reason, this happened (at least in my app) for the Walking Dead a couple times. Not sure if that is just an app issue or an upload issue. But Keep doing what you’re doing!
