Trust overload (or instant friend) or whatever doesn't go up to 100, it caps at like 40 favor.

Trust overload isn't working, it using energy but not giving favor. I think it was broken before the update.

like random user said, after you become friendly enough with someone, trust overload doesn't work anymore. It just lowers willpower. Which can be useful for other things
